28 years ago in November 1981 the international scandal “with Soviet submarine” inflamed. Going already in surface position Submarine №137 was not marked by any Swedish radar.

On the night of 14/15, October, 1981, Soviet diesel submarine №137, was making a usual training voyage in the Baltic Sea. Owing to failure of navigating devices and errors in place definition, it ran off the course in low visibility and took the ground at a southeast extremity of Sweden… Besides, Swedes informed Americans that on the board of the submarine were tactical nuclear weapons, and it made the situation only more complicated.

In the morning of the 7th of November the submarine turned back to its base.

In the history of the channel three periods are singled out: its building (1930-s), the restoration after the war (50-s) and the present.

Some parts of the Astrakhan region look like a moldy honey cake with rare green blotches of trees, which is restrung by celebratory blue ribbons of shallow streams. There is very little growth, the ground is dry and the trees are scraggy. The situation changes drastically as you approach the Caspian Sea, where the Volga river is divided into numerous arms, and it starts looking like a cable barbarian attacked and unraveled with the plug torn off: everything is green, the trees get higher, though there are fewer of them, little plots of land, that is there, is covered with green reed twice the human height. Half of the Russian Red Book (endangered species list) inhabits this area.

The Cold War Museum (exhibition complex Bunker-42) is a military historical museum and an entertaining complex founded in the former classified military object of the USSR – Alternate Command Center of Long-Range Aviation (GO-42). The territory of the museum represents an underground bunker with an area 7000 m2 located 60 m deep near Taganskaya metro station. The museum has been working since 2006 after Bunker-42 was bought from “Rosimuschestvo” at the auction by “Novik Service” company.
