A Monument of Stalin Put Up In Novosibirsk

The Victory Day is the best date to erect a monument to Joseph Stalin as they thought in Novosibirsk, Russia. The bust will stand at the building of the Russian communist party. Two plates will be attached to the monument: one will contain the quote of Stalin, another one – a poem dedicated to his merits.

The initiative group had been seeking for the permission to put up the monument for several years. Now they provide the spot with CCTV and round the clock security.

The author of this unique photo collection is a Russian photo artist Nikolay A. Shabunin (1866-1907) who dedicated all his life to the ethnography of his native region – the Mezen country and its outskirts.

Nikolay was obsessed by the Russian north, he saw how age-old traditions receded into the past and he wanted to capture the life of those people who could be called “the children of nature” – their mode of life didn’t change for centuries.
