The waters of the Gulf of Finland turned green near St.Petersburg, Russia. They say it is because of the algae and the abnormally high temperature of the air and water this year. Like, if your pool gets warm and no chlorine is added, it becomes infested with green algae like this, too.
Those little islands are called “bushes”. There are oil pumps placed on them. This is a Samotlor oil field near Nizhnevartovsk. The oil deposits are on the bottom of the lake and swamp so there are many artificial islands made on which they drill the well and put an oil pump.
The man, the photographer – Sergei Borisov, was born into a “slave” family. Until 1861, slavery was legal in Russia in the form of serfdom. He was forced to work since an early age, until later he was freed and moved away to Barnaul where he found his passion in photography and opened his own photo studio. As time passed by, it became the biggest and most popular studio in town, so he had enough money to go on a trip to the Altai mountains and he brought back over 1500 photos from there.
These days, near Moscow, there is an “ARMY-2018” expo show going on. It is the fourth time in a row that it has been held here. Marina, the photographer, went there and took some unique photos from the closed show.
