    • Anthony, the SSJ100 until now has been using the PowerJet SaM146, which was developed as a joint venture between Snecma from France and NPO Saturn from Russia. However, their intention is to switch to the fully indigenous Aviadvigatel PD-8, which is a derated version of the Aviadvigatel PD-14 developed for the Russian Irkut MC-21 airliner. An unintended side-effect of the sanctions against Russia since 2014 is that it has resulted in a major improvement of their indigenous commercial aircraft capability, especially in the fields of domestic composite production, engines and avionics.
