
When the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, it killed a huge part of the country’s art. The dominating art style of socialist countries was social realism that glorified proletariat and civil achevements. Mosaic was especially popular – it depicted Soviet heroes, figures of culture and politics, workers, pioneers, scientists and cosmonauts. Most of schools, factories, subway and bus stations were decorated with mosaic.

All I see is a lot of Soviet propaganda. All of it should be removed. A new generation should do some new art here.
I think that it should stay as a reminder of something that does not work.
Maybe ….people love to be reminded of their failures.
I agree, History is something to learn from, not to destroy and forget about. Otherwise, civilization will have to learn it all over again. Learn from History….

The Russian people may have lost their way for a bit but have such a tremendous history/culture touching so many different cultures. It is really incredible.
Being from the West, I think maybe we are losing our way now.
