Cupids, Fireplaces and Stained Windows: Inside Beautiful Houses of Saint-Petersburg

We are going to show you the most interesting and beautiful houses of Saint-Petersburg (although there are many others that may strike imagination). It’s quite interesting that some of these old houses may have two addresses… it must be difficult to be a postman in St. Petersburg.

  1. The Art Deco plaster casts were popular all over Europe a hundred odd years ago. The most amazing example is the New York Cafe in Budapest, which was originally built as a cafeteria for the New York Life Insurance company and which is now part of a hotel.

  2. These photos show the truly magnificent craftsmanship deep within the soul of the Russian people.
From photos we have seen on this site, we can see how the spirit of the Russian people went from soaring and uplifting, to dismal and depressed.
The point where this changed was the Russian revolution.
Russia went from a place of hope and inspiration to a giant prison of despair.
This is a major tragedy for the Russian people.
I hope that seeing these photographs, and others like them, can serve as inspiration to the Russians to return to the uplifting spirit they used to have.

  3. There was a time when people took their pride in doing things properly. But then someone with bad intentions came, got their own country, then started to produce garbage movies in Hollywood to fill the cattle heads with filth. So now we have tagging, destruction and decay, cause no one care anymore.

  4. Absolutely beautiful! One thing I noticed was how the entry ways were sunken below the main living level so that the cold dense arctic air that came in when you entered or left, stayed below the living area
