Winter is over, summer’s coming soon. But it seems that in some regions winter lasts practically forever. Like in Yakutia, Russia. Local summer is swift passing and not so bright. In winter the temperature can drop here to -60C (-76F).
Alexey Vasilyev is a photographer born in Yakutia, he is not afraid of cold but, on the contrary, finds inspiration in this utterly cold land and its people. Strong locals take this climate as it is and treat everything with gratitude.
Photographs of A. Vasilyev are rather popular, they have already been published by the Guardian, National Geographic, Nerional Geographic (Russia), Lenta.ru (Russia) etc.
Take a look at some of them to see how Yakutia lives and survives.
