  1. I have the Russian Naval buckle. I bought it off a Russian Navy man when their training ship visited LA harbor in the 1990s. I did notice that many of the deck sailors were barefoot and needed some shoes.

  2. I worked on the military duty trains as radio operator and repairman between the Berlin Wall and the Iron Curtain when I was in the U.S. Army during the Cold War. While the train was stopped at Marienborn and the officers were not looking, I used to trade with the Russian soldiers a carton of cigarettes for a Russian belt with the brass buckle which had the hammer and sickle in the center. None of the buckles I traded for appears on this page, but these are fine belt buckles displayed here.
