Russia Is Going To Make the First Combat Tractor

By the end of 2019 the tractor factory of Chelyabinsk, Russia, is going to launch a serial production of “mine tractors” – an upgraded version of an armored agricultural machine BM 102S equipped by a special minesweep to deactivate anti-personnel and anti-tank mines.

Such tractor with a minesweep is cheaper and more maneuverable than a tank mine sweeper. It has a better motor capacity and its use is economically more reasonable.

The developers also cared about the safety of the personnel. If the minesweep gets in touch with a more powerful explosive device, the engine installed in the front will help to save the crew.

  1. I can’t believe the russian military have no armored dozers… anyway, it looks more like a toy compared to IDF’s Caterpillar D9… like the Stalinetz tractors of the 1940’s

  2. I can save them the effort, they could just buy old ones from the British Army, only £10,000 each!

If you want something that looks more like an agricultural tractor, New Zealand have some: http://www.army.mil.nz/our-capability/operational-vehicles/combat-tractor.htm
