  1. When I was in Moscow about 20 years ago, it was essential for the taxi drivers to know where all the pot-holes were. That way, when it had rained and the water was still lying on the surface, they knew which of the puddles they could speed through, and which ones called for a careful lane change! This is of the same order. A tram driver is expected to “know his road”!
