A foreign tourist arrived to Russia at its most turning point of recent times – in early 1990s – the transition from USSR to Russian Federation – there were even no laws and regulations in some areas as USSR didn’t have proper laws to regulate commerce, import export, large private properties etc. And so it was the time of opportunity and sort of freedom.
However most of people couldn’t use that opportunity so it was a time of extreme poverty as well. Here is a photo from the airport.
