This is fairly unknown Soviet bomber IL-52. It has a unique “Flying wing” composition without a rare tail. It was a back up project of IL agency and never went much on public. They started to develop it in late 1940s after a need arisen in delivering atomic bombs across continents. Let’s see it in detail:
In the USA same time B-52 and YB-60 were built. Soviet engineers were challenged to do something similar in matter of range and speeds.
So this “flying wing” seemed to be an interesting alternative.
However later they built more classical approach bombers like TUs, which later transformed in modern TU-95s etc. And this “Flying wing” machine was built only in one piece.
This is its engine. Even now after sixty years this plane looks very nice looking and modern and reminds the modern bombers.
