This post is full of interesting pictures from the fifth power unit of the Novovoronezh NPP, Russia, from its control center, to be more precise. After his visit to this place blogger vmulder assures that the atom can be both peaceful and safe.
After the modernization everything became more automated and safe here. All the information is displayed on the screens. Chernobyl catastrophe would never happen here. The human factor is minimized, still they have highly qualified specialists at the NPP.
There are plenty of buttons and keys but three specialists are enough to do all the work.
This room is a place for the relay protection system which is used to continuously control the condition of all elements of the power system and react in case of emergency. If any damage occurs the system will determine the damaged element and deactivate it.
