Blogger rukabaa has visited an airfield Sormovo belonging to the aircraft construction plant “Sokol” in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. The airfield has an air strip 2987 meters long and 70 meters wide, three airsides along the air strip for equipment parking and hangars. Here we show you one of these airsides and get into a combat fighter MiG-31.
There are several roads leading to the airfield.
The checkpoint turns out to be empty.
Aircraft parking in the background.
The unwanted visitors tried to remain unnoticed.
It would be too long to walk the airfield around so they chose the shortest way – to run 70 meters across the airfield on half-bent legs.
The first structure on our way. With a guard inside.
To the left of the structure is a radar station.
A closer view.
The first parking zone.

This one has a pitot-static system that helps to determine the speed of the craft.
Bottom of the MiG.
This one has neither chassis nor cabin.

Each MiG has two pilots, each of them has an individual cabin.

Civilian Yak-40 and MiG-25.
River amphibious craft, the ekranoplan “Volga-2”. Only eight craft like this have been ever built.
We are going to see another parking area now…
This is an area for aircraft testing.
Here is another airside with MiG-31 aircraft.
Yak-40 can be seen here as well.
And finally we came back to the same checkpoint…
