Abkhazia is not only the country with beautiful mountainous landscapes, endless beaches and classic architecture but also military research institutes including those for nuclear purposes. This post is about one of them.
It was built in the mid 80s on the territory of object “A” but never was finished due to the postwar crisis. Today the underground laboratory consisting of two big tunneled blocks is abandoned. Blogger samnamos visited the place to take some interesting images.
People say there’s another similar lab which belongs to Object “G” and, being well guarded, still functions today.
One of the lab entrances.
The interior of the tunnel is tiled which is rather unusual for that type of structure.
Both tunnels have similar dimensions. Wiring and equipment have been plundered.
This is the point where the two tunnels are connected. Probably this design could avoid damage in both tunnels if an accident occurs.
If the lab is finished it would look like this.
The place is swarming with insects – scorpions and centipedes…
It could be a perfect set for a movie.
There is a beach nearby.
View of the gorge from the upper floor. The night sky in Abkhazia is so beautiful!
