Ukrainian people call this place “Hogwarts” – they think this architectural creation reminds them of the well-known school of Harry Potter, and what’s interesting is that this place is a school, too. A university in the city of Chernovtsy in Ukraine. It was built in the late 19th century and was initially a residence and a school for the local church authority. Armahema, the photographer, went there and took the photos in detail, and has a story to tell that you can read inside.
The main gate to “Hogwarts”. The architecture of this place was highly valued not only by locals but even UNICEF included it in its list of protected sites. It consists of three parts and we going to see them all.
There is a church on the left and a main study U-shaped block ahead.
During the Soviet epoch, no church studies were allowed here so it was just regular secular school (as the Soviet state was atheistic and secular).
Besides its nice architecture on the outside, the insides are even more cool.
Looks like the real Hogwarts, doesn’t it?
Many thanks to Armahema for his photos and for making this possible for us to see. What do you think – is it somehow alike to the school you attended or is it completely different?
