Dagestan is part of Russia, and here is a traditional wedding out of Dagestan. Yes, people are shooting into the air and it is considered necessary and appropriate in this land. What else is necessary and appropriate? Let’s see inside. Nick has traveled to Dagestan and brought these photos back:
Nick says that lowered cars are a hit in Dagestan, so the lower your car is the cooler you tend to be, it doesn’t matter that you are living in mountains where the roads aren’t the best available. Many carry two planks in the trunk to get over obstacles like speed bumps.
They got into the cars and Murtazali, the driver, told them that people used to celebrate weddings two times: one time in the groom’s house and one time in the bride’s. However nowadays they do it this way only if the groom and bride are from different places. If they are from the one village, like this time, they have only one party.
Nick says parents in Dagestan start preparing for the wedding as soon as the baby is born. They think about the smallest details, the type of the dress and the hair cut for the future bride, etc. Also, youngsters can marry only when their own house has been built. So this pair first decided to marry and then it took a couple of years to build the house that you see in these pics. The house is complete: built with rocks, having a kitchen and even curtains and bed sheets.
