These “UAZ” vehicles were modified specially for Ukrainian border troops. They have already left for the Lugansk region to participate in an anti-terrorist operation.
Any armor means extra weight, so it’s not easy to make a vehicle good enough to protect people and to perform other functions. They have done the job rather well at the Nikolaevsk Locomotive Repair Plant.
Such vehicles have not participated in combat operations yet, it’s gonna be their first time.

There better be a peace agreement soon!
Is it just me or it doesnt really look like its armored much… may resist makarov pistol fire but I doubt it will resist sustained PKM and AKM fire…
Why not pictures of Buk missiles on this site? Or latest plane crash? There must be some reason to keep quiet:D
Why do Ukrainian Border Police need any kind of vehicle? Pretty soon there will be no border between Russia and the Ukraine.
rebar, welded together, is not armor.
One AP or API round will pass right through it. Same with that cut up portable landing strip stuff they strapped on.
at the Nikolaevsk Locomotive Repair Plant.
Not Nikolaevsk, but Nikolaev.
Fix pls.
Omg, even the Syria rebels would reject this… …and Ukraine used to build modern tanks and APCs just a few years ago. Well, after the state fails, high tech industry is the first to fall.
They dont want neonazis to be governing the country so they are terrorist for that, ahuh…..
Wouldn’t mind owning the civilian non-armored version for work around the farm.
any small armor peircing round would go right through that stuff and any thing over 12mm would just completely destroy it. what a joke.
DEATH TRAP !!!
Ummm, guys, you do know that bullets go through headlights????
What stupidity in design but interesting use of concrete reinforcing rods as armour.
They don’t have much choice stealing it on construction yard in Poland.
