What does happen with luggage in the airport? Does a bag have a long trip from the check-in to boarding? The pictures will show the way bags are handled, using the Domodedovo airport as an example.
All bags get to the common conveyor by a mechanical lift.
There are several levels of a bag inspection.
VIP bags go separately.
The entire conveyor has a large number of scanners located along it, reading the bar codes which were stuck on the luggage at the check-in desk.
If the bar code can’t be read, the bag goes through to a sorting conveyor.
A special worker will inspect such bags manually.
Then the bags get put into special boxes from which they will be transported to the plane.
Each of them is programmed for it’s own flight.
Then there is one more manual check.
Sometimes the luggage can be loaded onto the plane in a special container, and sometimes by a conveyor.
These luggage stickers should be learned by staff.
The path the luggage takes in the arrival terminal is easier.
The bag should be loaded onto the conveyor, where the passengers will take them. Transfer luggage goes to a sorting conveyor, like at the beginning of a flight.
