Novosibirsk is a large industrial center of Siberia: it has about 200 factories on its territory, the main fields are mechanical engineering, electrical power engineering, defence and food industries.

The territory of the factory is 35 hectares.
The factory provides turbo- and hydrogenerators to more than 700 power plants all over the world.
Over sixty thousand large electric machines made at “ELSIB” work in various industrial fields in 52 countries of the world. 580 of its turbogenerators with general power of 50 million KW are used at 181 Russian power stations.
About 30% of all power in Russia is generated by generators of “ELSIB”.
The main markets for export today are ex-Soviet countries, China, India and the Middle East.
ABout 1900 people are employed by the company.
“Novosibirsk Plant of Chemical Concentrates” is one of the leading producers of nuclear power for NPP and research reactors for Russia and foreign countries.
It is the only Russian producer of lithium metal and its salts.
Here they make uranium pellets. In those bio-cones uranium dioxide powder is kept. The cones also serve for mixing the powder and plastisizer, it allows to press a pellet in a better way.
Nuclear ceramic fuel tablets. One tablet with weight of 4,5 grams is equal to 400 kg of coal, 360 m2 of gas and 350 kg of oil.
Filling the zirconium tubes with uranium dioxide tablets. The result is fuel elements, each 4 meter long. They serve for making nuclear fuel.
Fuel for NPP made here is exported to Ukraine, Bulgaria, China, India and Iran.
“Novosibirsk metplant named after Kuzmin” is the only producer beyond the Ural that has a wide production of sheet metal, various pipes, section materials and cold-rolled strip.
Its territory is 80 hectares.
Slitting and coiling line.
Its metal products are widely used in the spheres of mechanical engineering, housing and economic complex, furniture production, aviation, rocket production etc. The supply geography – regions from Siberia to the Far East of Russia.
“Novosibirsk aviation plant named after V. P. Chkalov” is one of the largest aircraft making companies in the country. In the 90s they started to make a multi-purpose aviation complex Su-34.
Su-34 can fly at a speed of 1,9 thousand kilometres an hour and fly at a distance of 4000 km.
Western specialists still cannot identify this aircraft. It is called either a “multi-purpose fighter” or “figther-bomber”.
Today they are working on the project Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSj-100) – the new regional aircraft.
“Novosibirsk aircraft repair plant” makes overhaul and maintenance of all Mi- helicopters.
For half a century they have repaired over 6,5 thousand of various helicopters.
Novosibirsk Electric Locomotive Repair Plant.
“Novosibirsk Switch Plant” works for the needs of the Russian railway, various mines, tramlines and subways.
The range of the products made by the plant amounts to more than 300.
“Novosibirsk Instrument-Making Plant” is the largest maker of portable devices of surveillance and reconnaissance for the Russian army.
They also make gun sights.
“Tyazhstankohydropress”, JSC makes special machine tools, aluminium extrusions, powered supports, hydraulic presses, various machines etc.
“Siblitmash” is the only Russian company today that specializes in foundry engineering.
Here they make equipment for coke-chemical batteries, for oil and gas wells, pneumodrifts, tubing for making subway and mine tunnels.
Novosibirsk plant of electrothermal equipment – “Sibelectrotern”. The Russian largest specialized producer of electrothermal equipment. It exports its products to over 32 countries.
“Novosibirsk tool-making plant” – the Russian largest maker of fitting-and assembly tools.
Open pit “Mochische” that belongs to the Mochischensk crushed stone plant.
“Borok” deposit. Its products are used for construction and improvement of Novosibirsk.
“Ekran” factory making glass jars.
The factory makes 620 millions of glass jars annually.
Large factory “Noringa” (“Pure Water”) makes bottled water. It was founded in 1998.
Water is taken from artesian wells. Their depth is 120 m.
The products of the factory is supplied to ten regions of Russia.
Novosibirsk heating plant. One of the largest in Russia.
Its power capacity is 1,200 MW.
Cooling towers are 80 meters high.
Another heating plant.
It was put into operation in 1935.
Hydroelectric power station of the city.
