Tu 204 Crashes In Moscow

It’s not what we wanted to start this year with but still…

In December, 29th, the airplane Tu-204 crashed in the airport of Vnukovo, Moscow. Eight crew members were aboard the plane: four died and four were hospitalized in serious condition (one of them also died already in hospital).

  1. The plane landed normally, but was unable to stop on runway. Apparently, brakes and thrust reversers did not work. The same thing happened with another Tu-204 a few days earlier in Novosibirsk. This is very strange, because aircrafts of this type have been flying for more than a decade without such problems.

  2. They need speed breakers at the end of runways, so the planes don’t break up, something to bring them to a fairly gradual stop. Not a PIT like this.
