We are in Nizhny Tagil to visit the local place of interest – an abandoned museum plant “Old Demodovsky”. This plant seems to be one of the most beautiful industrial objects we have seen.
This is the panorama of Tagil.
It reads: “Water tank”.
It is pity it’s abandoned as a museum…

Nothing is more depressing than an abandoned factory (except for an abandoned school!); here once honorable proletarians toiled transforming matter into products that defined the modern age. These factories “are” civilization. Civilization is a book and a machine.
you forgot the people…
Have a nice Turkey Day?
It is not very clear what exactly was declared a technical monument. I imagine maintenance of the whole plant just to keep it safe would be enormously expensive.
That would be a great place setting to scan for a first person shooter game.
I’m the only one who hates the graffiti in bad taste?
needs to be destroyed and melted down
Russia’s a capable country but will she ever sort herself out again?
This is the first steel plant in Russia. Located in Nizhny Tagil in the Urals. I’ve been to this place. There are many steel plants in this area. My wife is from this city and we visit every Summer. NT is actually an ok place. It’s about 2 hours from Yekatrinburg.
