A short photo story of Garrison Pristan (Dock) and an airfield in Primorye abandoned long ago…
Pillbox still doesn’t look too shabby.
Something that looks like a pumping plant with reservoirs for water storage.
In 1992 the regiment was disbanded. In 1995 the disbanded regiment lost its color. People started leaving. Everyone who wished were given flats in local villages but people had to repair them at their own expense. The last settlers left about a year ago. Today in the remaining house only 4 families live. They have only electricity, no water supply system, no central heating.
The garrison is decaying. Heaps of rubbish and ruins of houses are everywhere. Bricks and metal are taken away.
Some floors are locked
People left the belongings they didn’t need anymore. Looking at them one can imagine who lived here and what he/she was doing.
“No entry for young children”
They left no bathroom equipment
Flies mass grave
No home, abandoned.
Though dogs still live at the garrison.
And the family of Alikh Bulatov. He’s been living here for 15 years. Used to work in a stockhole, then it was closed. They eat what they manage to grow and go fishing sometimes; survive the way they can. His children work at the substation that provides electricity in Smolyaninovo and Romanovka villages. Everyone who used to serve here, left. Only one military unit of communication remained. In 1996 the planes that could fly, flew away. In 1999 everything around started to be destroyed. Some fishers, hunters and former military men have little flats here and come for rest or hunting. Alikh watches their flats. Some of his children will leave soon too, only one daughter will stay because she works at the substation. They bring water from streams and in winter they use heating pads.
Grandsons of Alikh
Ruins of the house where remaining dwellers of the garrison used to live.
This place used to be a medical station
“Place for documents destruction”. “Instruments for equipment destruction.”
The runway 2,5 km long, empty hangars and buildings. Some air units used to be placed here. Tu-16, Yak-38, Su-17 are some of the planes they had. The place saw some tragedies. Thus in 1991 2 planes Su-17 collided with each other during a training flight. Both crews died.
Flights control building
In summer tourists still come to these places to swim and sunbathe, though.
