Let’s visit Ostankino Tower in Moscow that was built in 1967. It took 7 years to construct it. This is the highest television tower in Europe which is 540 meters high.
The place embraces equipment of Russian TV channels, several radio-stations and even a meteorological observatory. It is equipped with 7 elevators, has 45 floors, an observation ground located 337 meters high and restaurant Nebo (Sky) with a rotating floor that makes a turn around the tower axis per hour.
The observation ground has an open round balcony with restricted access.
Once a week a part of the equipment is turned off for some hours so that employees can carry out necessary works and avoid influence of electromagnetic radiation.
An exhibition of old cars is located nearby.
In August 2000 the Tower was on fire that resulted in human and serious material losses. It was closed for tourists for 10 years.Today the restaurant is still closed unlike the observation ground that welcomes visitors.
It is not easy to get an access to the place. You will be asked to remove all the metal items you have, they will examine your cameras and documents.
The observation ground has windows on the floor that are 3 cm thick, even if the fattest person in the world decides to jump on them nothing will happen.
It is one of some places where you can use cameras and optical devices.
