Central Aerodrome at Khodynka Field built by N. E. Zhukovsky, was the first aerodrome in Moscow. May 9, 1945, early in the morning, a plane landed there carrying the German Instrument of Surrender. Now, Khodynka Field is a big residential area with  an ice rink. At first, they were going to build a museum there, reflecting the history of Russian aviation, but it never happened. Here we have: E155M (E266M) interceptor; MiG-25PU combat training aircraft; La17-R unmanned reconnaissance aeral vehicle.

Under Sail Of Hope And Krusenstern

In the late eighties early nineties in Gdynia (Poland), they built several three-master barks for different nautical schools of the USSR. ‘Nadezhda’ which means ‘hope’ in English, belongs to Maritime State University named after adm. G. I. Nevelskoy in Vladivostok. ‘Krusenstern’ was built in 1926 at Geestemunde in Bremerhaven, Germany and was surrendered to the USSR 1946 as war reparation. It is now a Russian Navy sail training ship. Here’s some description of these ships, their crews and students, and their everyday life.

Kurile Lake is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. It is the second largest fresh water lake in Kamchatka. Its surface area is 76.2 square kilometers (12.5 kilometers long and 8 kilometers wide). Kurile Lake was formed 8300-8400 years ago by a large volcanic explosion and a collapse of the Earth crust. The lake has an average depth of 176 meters, and a maximum depth of 306 meters. The only river that takes off from this lake is the Ozyornaya river which connects it with the Sea of Okhotsk. The great spawning migration of blueback salmon lasts from July till February, attracting many animals and birds: bears, Steller’s sea eagles, foxes, sea gulls, ducks, swans, etc.
