Nowadays ZAZ (that is a short name for the plant) is absolutely different than before. Production capacity of the current ZAZ is 300 thousand cars per year. The lion’s share of all cars goes to the domestic market, but export is also getting better and better.

A novelty of this year is Chance. It is a small budget car with engine capacity up to 1.5 liters, with an automatic gearbox and even air conditioning. It replaced Chevrolet Lanos manufactured here since 2003 and will cost 349 000 (12,000 dollars) rubles  in the Russian market. Test-drive showed quite good results: dynamics, comfort and control characteristics are alright.

But in general, Chance still leaves not the most magnificent impression. The car turned out to be a little bit dull. Though it has one great advantage : Chance reincarnates Zaporozhets and evokes nostalgia.

  1. If I wanted sparkle and zip, I (barely) could afford some.

I opted for extreme frugality and bought a ScionXb back in 2006.

I saved enough to buy a house a couple of years later.

    1.5 liter engine? Check!
    Clean, minimalist design? Check!
Still sippin’ gas and bringin’ home the bacon? Check!

True, no chicks have ever shaken their stuff in my face because of what I drive…

But then, do you really want chicks like that?
