  2. I am Russian, so i can explain why are these nails were swallowed by prisoners. It is all because these times were hard even in jail so people were swallowing all the stuff to get in jails hospital for some time, where he could eat better food rest more (in better conditions) and main thing he was not forced to work while he is there.
