August 21, Cheboksary, the Power Extreme championship… Do you want to see some real Russian men? Then you’re welcome.
“Strong Man” is an annual event held in the city of Cheboksary. Its aim is the promotion of the healthy way of life and love for sport, as well as the attraction of young people to strength sports which not only discipline, but also develop endurance, patience and form a beautiful body!
The preparation for the first competition called “The walk of a farmer”. Assistants install cylinders weighing 110 kg each.
According to the rules, athletes must cover a distance of 30 meters as fast as possible. The fastest one wins.
While assistants are preparing equipment for the second competition, the hostess of the championship holds a contest between two pairs of boys and girls. The guys must put the girls on their shoulders and do as many sit-ups as possible.
The next competition is called “A yoke”. The tool weighing 300 kg must be moved 20 meters away in the shortest time possible.
“Log lifting”. The weight of the tool is 110 kilograms. The contestants must lift it above the head as many times as possible in 90 seconds. Not everybody managed to cope with this task. The best result is 3 times.

Before the fifth competition, some strong men decide to warm up a little and lift the weights.
The weight of the car is 1400 kg. The maximum height at which sportsmen managed to lift it – 7 cm.
The final competition called “Towing”.
It took Dmitry Smirnov, the country’s master of sports in powerlifting, 22 seconds to move a 16-ton bus 15 meters away.
He was ahead of all the participants and became the strongest man for the third time in a row.
The force with which athletes pulled the stairs was so high that the assistants had to nail it to the pavement after every try.
