The firing ground of the Black Sea Fleet “Opuk” is located in the Crimea and is used only by Russian armed forces. “Opuk” is universal: infantries and artilleries, seagoing ships and aviations can practice their firing possibilities. Today we’ll see one fighting training of a landing assault battalion with imitations of enemy landings and marines attacks.

The infantry receives a directive to lie down and dig in, that is not easy because of heavy bullet-proof vests.

The Marines Brigade 810

Soldiers didn’t have enough time to dig up even small holes when a new command came: “Put shovels away and take guns!”

The Marines Brigade 810

They still use RPK-74M.

These guys threw grenades RGD-5 just bowing a little.

The Marines Brigade 810

Then infantrymen separated for groups, ran about a km and occupied trenches for repelling an enemy’s counterattack.

The Marines Brigade 810

Guns, machineguns, RPGs, SVDs, PKTs and BTRs were also used.

In the end again throwing of RGD-5. And nobody here is insured from such mistakes as accidental grenades in your own trench.

And debriefing.

The Marines Brigade 810

Such trainings are not a rare thing, the gunnery range works all year round. Besides trainings on the land, there is an obligatory landing from a big ship. That is the way all military units come to the firing range.

  1. The water’s so blue, it looks like it would be a beautiful place to scuba dive even during a military exercise.

  2. Has Russia launched an amphibious invasion since WW2? They don’t really have an adaquate navy to launch a serious invasion. Perhaps a harassing raid or two.

    • Your talking about Russia they don’t attack pll only respond in kind with overwhelming force when provoked. Tisk tisk did you get confused with the US again? The nation that needs to invade others just because they need at least 2 wars going at a time.

  3. The Soviet Naval Infantry mostly did small shore assaults during WWII and they where pretty good at it in the Cold War they where focused on larger scale assaults more like what the USMC.I’d assume due to the smaller naval ability the Russian Naval Infantry would focus WWII style assaults which they have quite adequate means for.

The Russian military is steadily improving itself and people seem to ignore this for some reason. I think the typical Russian military member is as dedicated as any western counterpart they get my respect and I am an American military vet myself.
