While staying in Russia don’t forget to visit Military-historical museum of armored vehicles and armament of Main auto-tank directorate of Defense ministry of Russian Federation, known as “Kubinka” and located in Odintsovo district near Moscow. The official web site says that the “museum presents the unique, world’s biggest collection of armored vehicles starting from WWI first constructions to modern main battle tanks. Collection was founded in 1931 and is still growing with new battlefield findings and army write-offs, with present-day count of more than 300 vehicles”.
Here are some examples of the exhibits.

Any Shermans?
The museum has a Sherman but I don’t see one in the post. There is an M 3 Grant in Photo 5. The museum has an excellent website in English and Russian.

It’s an NK-101 German Mine Exploder. Experimental and 1 of a kind. I can’t find a good link, but it was abandoned on the training ground after is was found to be under-armed and to slow due to extra armour. There’s more to the story, I just can’t recall it right now.
Any Shemales ?
Awesome! I’ve been here before… in the summer of 2006!

It’s the WOIRLD OF TAHNKS!!!
Very huge and nice collection of tanks and tracked vehicles.but i don`t under stand why the curators and the staff of this museum is not cleaning and dusting of this collection.if i have all the tanks and allied machines,i will be very keen to restore these collection.
would be even more cool if the access would not be denied to non-russians (for whatever reason…)
I’m a Non-Russian! We were not denied access! I’m an American! We saw the $hit outta that place!
yeah, but probably not this season…?
Have relations between USA and Russia deteriorated this season so that nonRussians may not visit the WOIRLD OF TAHNKS!!! anymore?
note: I spelled the WOIRLD of TAHNKS incorrectly because that is how our tour guide so enthusiastically pronounced it!
The museum is on a military base and you need authorization to go on the base not into the museum. Me and a friend went to Kubinka, went to the guard shack and filled out a form, I gave them my passport and about 4 hours later (!!!!!!) an officer came by and asked a few questions and we hopped into a truck and they took us to the museum. It cost me $20, they did not allow me to take pictures because it was a 35mm camera. It helps to have a Russian friend with you because of language problems and not being from some model company like Tamiya. It also depends on what they are doing on the base too, if they’re busy you may not be able too. Avoid the tourist places, with a little luck you can see it yourself by going there. I was also offered a ride in a tank for $2000, I told them I didn’t bring my printing press. Ridiculous
is it that easy? do they have a tiger one? the website said find tour guide?
Great post!
I would like to know this place.. 🙂
Tsk, tsk! Such language!
