  1. Looks like a Mi-14P and according to a news story from a year ago one was killed, three injured, in a joint exercise with Japan regarding a notional oil spill.

  2. complete failure of the pilot in command. the aircraft was obviously having power issues, why on earth would someone try to then rely on those same engines to power you out of a situation in which everyone was safe?

  3. Bad choice made by the pilot(s). However, he was probably under a lot of pressure by the Russian officials. They like to show off instead of keeping everyone safe.

  6. Your right he could have saved it. I was surprised he tried to take off again. He hit the water so hard it looked like he damaged the airframe.
