Russian scientists have built a computer model which helped them to predict the possible cataclysms in nearest future. The results they got were far from optimistic. For example according to the model Russian winters are going to be very severe, and more than that numerous earthquakes could occur, also such events as aircraft crashes seem very possible.
The cause for all those negative predictions is a temperature growth on the Earth. Those conclusions have a firm scientific base underneath: scientists built a lot of computer models for the last few years, trying to understand what influence on atmosphere causes “greenhouse gases” and “greenhouse effect” in general.
The greenhouse effect is the rise in temperature that the Earth experiences because certain gases in the atmosphere (water vapor, carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, and methane, for example) trap energy from the sun. Without these gases, heat would escape back into space and Earth’s average temperature would be about 60ºF colder. Because of how they warm our world, these gases are
referred to as greenhouse gases.
Have you ever seen a greenhouse? Most greenhouses look like a small glass house. Greenhouses are used to grow plants, especially in the winter. Greenhouses work by trapping heat from the sun. The glass panels of the greenhouse let in light but keep heat from escaping. This causes the greenhouse to heat up, much like the inside of a car parked in sunlight, and keeps the plants warm enough to live in the winter.
The scientists collected the results of more than 52 computer simulations they conducted. Those results helped them to determine the impact on ecology those changes in climate are carrying.
As a result they claim that the most influenced regions in the world would be: Europe, Western Asia (including Eastern China), Canada and Amazon region. Global warming would cause the lack of drinking water in Southern Europe and on East Coast of USA, accompanied with severe droughts.
They say that their prediction is 30% accurate if the average temperature rises for 3 degrees, and 60% correct if it raises for 5 degrees.
Some of their predictions are already part of our everyday life. They predicted the more severe winter in European part of Russian Federation, and we all remember how cold the last winter was in this region. Temperatures felt down much below the average levels and stayed their for a long time. Also this group of scientists predicted a lot of forest fires in Russia, and just a few days ago there was an article on EnglishRussia.com concerning severe forest fires in Western Russia causing dangerous toxic clouds spread across Northern Europe.
The Ministry of Emergence Situations in Russia uses the results of those scientists in their everyday life. Sources there say that the next year is going worthier than 2006.
This changes affect not only Russia. Not long ago a science adviser of the British government, David King, warned that soon the temperature on Earth can reach the dangerous mark which would cause half of animal and plant forms to disappear. According to his prediction the biggest forests would disappear also as a result of temperature hitting this mark. The amount of starving people in the world can increase on 400,000,000, and amount of people that are in lack of drinking water would increase on 1.3 billion reaching 3.0 billion in total.
Such facts really worry the governments of developed countries, because the worsening of life in those regions would cause more strong migration of people to the countries with high levels of life, using all the available methods, causing increase of the presence of illegal migrants in the USA and Western Europe, bringing with themselves their way of life and spreading it across the western world.
