A group of journalists were kept as hostages by a bunch of Southern looking guys dressed in military uniform. Well, almost. It is a new experience one can get in Chelyabinsk city, Russia in the recently opened special courses of "How to behave during if you was taken as a hostage". First a bus full of people is being

stopped in the middle of nowhere by a bunch of Arabic people yelling "Allakh Akbar" each and every five seconds. Those are not real terrorists, but Russian SWAT soldiers carefully picked by appearance - with Southern roots so that they could resemble ethnical Chechen or Arabic threat.

The B-413 submarine belonged to the Soviet Northern Fleet for almost 20 years -- from 1969 to 1990. Next eight years it was a unit of the Baltic Fleet, and soon after its decommissioning, in July 2000, the B-413 became an item of the Museum of the World Ocean. Now it’s exhibited in Kaliningrad, and in 2000 after the tragedy of the Kursk submarine the museum organized a fundraising campaign for the

families of crewmembers who died in the catastrophe. The interiors haven’t changed a bit since 1969 when it was constructed. Everything there is very accurate and small, for tall men it was more than hard to live and work in the submarine, as there is little room and you had to move very quickly, especially when the situation required it. The photos below worth many words.

On August 2, 1930 near Voronezh a parachute subdivision of 12 men landed in the fields and this started a new tradition of the Soviet and then Russian army. This date is the professional holiday of paratroopers and is celebrated for

already 79 years. Over this period landing troops took part in all armed conflicts of the former USSR. Nowadays these troops are believed to be the elite of the army. The motto of the Blue berets “Nobody but us”.
