Winter Kamchatka is very beautiful. And its beauty is better to be observed from height. These pictures were taken in different years
from helicopters flying over Kamchatka. The bonus is fantastic photographs of the erupting Kamchatka volcano Plosky Tolbachik.
In November, 27th a Kamchatka volcano called "Plosky Tolbachik" awoke and started to erupt. The lava destroyed the base
of the local institute of volcanology and seismology and the base of the nature park "Kamchatka Volcanoes".
We are back in Kamchatka and at Kuril lake to see some more beautiful wild landscapes and local
dwellers. We have shown many bears of Kamchatka to you. Today you are going to see more foxes.
Here is another set of photographs taken at Kuril lake in the south part of Kamchatka peninsular. Almost all of
them belong to Alexey Bezrukov, another photographer who travelled there for shooting the local wildlife.
Now we are going to present works of another photographer who travelled to Kamchatka as well. Sergey Gorshkov is the most titled
Russian wildlife photographer, winner of different contests, participant of many exhibitions at home and abroad.
We are going to fly over the most famous volcanoes of central Kamchatka by helicopter. The weather is nice though it is always foggy over Kamchatka. On this photo is Karymskaya hill, it is an active volcano.
It is 1536 m high (5039 ft). Its top is a right truncated cone. It constantly emits hot gases. It is located in the caldera of the ancient volcano (with the diameter of five km (three miles).
Kuril lake of Kamchatka is the place inhabited by the largest number of bears. Probably no other place in the world has more bears than this one. According to
the data of aerial surveys more than a thousand of bears live at the lake! Being here you can easily see more than a hundred of them in one day.
Avacha volcano is rather huge. Its height is 2700 meters (8860 ft), people start climbing it from the height of 800 meters (2625 ft).
Thus, they should climb 1900 m (6233 ft) high. It is not so easy. It usually takes from six to eight hours to climb this height.
Kurilsk lake is famous not only with its wonderful landscapes and surrounding volcanoes, but also with the demographic situation of bears which is very good as there are plenty of the animals here. This is where one can get a clear
understanding that a bear is not a fluffy toy but a dangerous predator and doesn't kill people only because there is an abundance of tested and safe food around. As soon as the food is over, no person can be saved.
