|
|
I haven't posted for a while; I've been reading, but not replying. Though I was away for a couple of weeks in a number of European cities. One of these cities was Paris and I know a little French, but not all too much; what I do know definitely needs polishing.
I'll cut the story short and basically say [that due to interest generated by the above situation I had an idea and that] would anyone be interested in visiting a forum (a forum to be), which is essentially a series of General forums (much like this one here, but even more general) in different languages. The idea here is to practise/learn a little foreign languages; there would be English, Russian, French, whatever there was enough popular demand for.
So the question is very basic for now, without wanting to go into too much detail: Would you be interested in visiting this forum to brush up on your English*/Russian/whatever else it is you speak?
I have seen some like this, but mostly they're a bit, to be polite, rubbish. They also lack the more 'natural' feel of a general forum, about films, books, politics, etc.
[There would be more than just a 'general' forum for each language, but that would be the main focus.]
*I know this is pretty much everywhere on the internet, but it would be with people following a common goal and be more 'correct' English [hopefully, at least]. _________________ www.twitter.com/Bobbilai

Hello Robert,
I have missed you and your wonderful wit. Yes, I am interested in your idea. I have started basic Russian but being a bit lazy (thanks to Babelfish) I have slacked off. Another problem is that my "Definitive" English-Russian Russian-English dictionary is anything but. |

good idea but how would you learn russian? memorize the spelling of the word , that is useless. besides profanity is the only useful part of russian language because you can express any feelngs with just few bad worlds. _________________ TALK IS CHEAP BECAUSE SUPPLY EXCEEDS DEMAND |

It would be mainly (at first) for people to practice what they knew. Also, with any luck there'd be voice-chat in time.
Furthermore you could just write in the general section of your own language; not everyone has to serve a specific educational purpose.
As for how well it's going; I have software... I'm just horribly short on time (hence this being my first post on this forum in quite some while). _________________ www.twitter.com/Bobbilai

Hi Robert,
I want to know if it's still just a project, or have you already discussed and agreed it with Admin? _________________ If only Mensheviks were Bolsheviks |

I'm still considering whether to ask if it could have something to do with Englishrussia or not. There's a few people who said they'd be willing to publicise it a little, one or two of them have pretty popular sites and groups of sites themselves, so even if 10 or so people come across a plug...
So for doing something with Admin; I've been thinking about it, but I'd rather see how it goes out of its fledgling state first, in the first trial, before suggesting it to others as a sort of co-operative deal. _________________ www.twitter.com/Bobbilai

Been wondering where to find a list of Russian expletives. Don't forget to include the profane names for body parts/sex acts. _________________ Dr. Chaos - "Our very existence is but the product of a very long series of extremely unlikely events" |

| Hello arkadia, welcome to English Russia. Your English is very good. When writing on a computer, a useful tool is a word processing program that has a spell check feature. |
