One Journey to the Wild Northern Land

Taimyr peninsular is the northernmost mainland. Further are only scattered little islands and the Arctic Ocean. Here starts the Anabar plateau - terra incognita, practically unpopulated area, the poorly studied region. This land is characterized by the largest livestock of migratory deer herds, the angriest bears, the tastiest grayling and trout, the purest nature. There
are no roads and airfields here. For all the history of our planet here have been fewer people than on the Everest. What an interesting expedition to this land must be! The swimming pool in Moscow was built at the place of the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour that had been demolished in 1930. The construction started in 1958 and in 1960 the swimming pool welcomed
its first visitors. That was the largest swimming pool in the USSR and one of the biggest pools in the world that time. Today it is just a history as the construction was demolished.

This summer was a hard time for the land of Kazakhstan. It brought various incidents which ended with a terrible fire that destroyed one of the most beautiful places of Central Asia - mountain resort Medeo. Many zones are still under the threat of fire.
Planes kept flying over the region for all the summer period and one journalist often joined them to collect some material about the nature of south-east Kazakhstan and take photos of the region. Some of them are presented in this post.

Kotuikan river is located in the Krasnoyarsk region of Russia. It is 237 km (147 miles) long. Its catchment area is almost four thousand square kilometres (2,5 thousand of miles). In summer the river becomes more shallow and its body starts
looking different. The twisted artery cuts the Anabar plateau into intricate patterns, reveals ancient rock formations and attracts numerous tourists who should put their tents high over the water and fix their rafts well.

Hunting Some Phesants For Dinner

Hunting used to be essential for life in the past as it saved people from hunger and cold. Today it is mainly used for entertainment. A hunting ground next to Atyrau, Kazakhstan that was opened last spring offers anyone to become a hunter. Hunting has never been that easy. It rather looks like a shooting range,
but instead of plastic rabbits you get live phesants grown specially at a farm. When a client arrives a phesant is let into the open space fenced from both sides where the bird even has no trees to sit on. The scared birds rush away from a next group of the armed visitors with dogs.
