Russian Mobile Banya, Village Style

In Russian village they are having fun sometimes in some exotic way. The traditional washing places called “banya” were a must near every villager’s house. But still there are some that don’t have a banya and now the local entrepreneur Sergei has invented a mobile banya, village style. He got an old “Belarus” tractor and equipped it with a real life wooden hot steam banya house. Now such steamy delight is available by call delivered directly to your backyard or you can even to travel across the village while bathing and then can jump out to the virgin snow of the village outskirts.
Abandoned Swine City

With all that hype of swine flu going around these days there are big chances that sooner or later more pig farms would look like this abandoned Swine City Grande from USSR where they had thousands of thousands of piglets belonging to the glorious state and then all was left unused.
The hysteria itself hasn’t reached its peak as it was with mad cow disease one when they burned down millions of cow bodies etc, but if they start doing such things someday they would get more such landscapes for sure.

After this post about grain harvesting in Russia, many people supposed that it was some kind of “ideal” farm that differs greatly from other Russian agricultural companies because the images showed foreign harvesters, trucks and other machinery.
So to clear things up, here are some pictures of Russian produced grain harvesters. The “DON-1500″, has been in production since 1986 and is still sold in Russia. These particular ones are still being used.
These machines, bought new, run about $120,000.
Sand Eating Woman

This woman is from one Russian village.
She attracted our attention because of one weird fact about her. According to her words she is fond of eating sand. Yes, just regular sand you can get from outside. This what she does - takes the bucketful of sand to bring home.
She didn’t tell how much she eats and why she does this. The only information was shared is that she is fond of doing this.
Don’t Mess with a Bear
Sometimes there are talks that Russians are so tough that they have bears on the chain instead of the dogs in the villages. Well, they actually do sometimes, but messing with such a creature guarding your yard can be not so fun!

If nowadays rich Russians prefer red-brick houses of strange design, many years ago some other fashion was ruling the minds of Russian high society. It was a unique to Russia style of building large wooden houses of genuine Russian design. They had an ability to build houses from stone, like in Europe, but preferred wood on purpose, they liked wood, the feeling of the wooden house.
