Russian soldier in Afghanistan draws pictures

This Russian soldier, he was on a few wars, in Afghanistan in Tajikistan and then in Chechnya.

He got in real battles and lost many of his friends in action, that’s a true story true soldier. Everywhere he went he took one thing with him that helped him to cope with all that. It was a simple ballpoint pen that he used to draw the most touching memories on the paper.

8th of March  - women day is very popular in Russia 1

Tomorrow is the day that Russian women like most. They like it more than any other day in the year, more than St. Valentines day or Mother’s Day. This tradition comes from the Soviet Times and was very widely celebrated across Soviet Russia. All the women of Russia put their best cloths, tons of make up and go to their work places not to work but to accept congratulations, flowers and presents from the men of Russia.

This decided to congratulate his passion early. But according to the last picture she was not alone!

Soviet War Games

War games were quite usual and sometimes even obligatory thing in Soviet Union both for children (pioneers) and for adults. “Zarnitsa” (sheet lightning) was the most widespread and famous one, when a big group of people was divided into two confronting teams. The aim was to capture a flag, “secret” documents or army headquarters. Here are some historical photos. It looks like a real war.

Dmitri Nickolaevich Bal’termants was born in 1912, in Warsaw, Poland (the part of the Russian Empire at that time). In 1915, at the beginning of the revolution, his family moved in Moscow, where he have been living for the most part of his life.

During the World War 2 he made his shots through all over the front in such places as Moscow, Stalingrad (Volgograd nowadays) or Leningrad (St. Petersburg).

Now the pictures of Bal’termants have become the world famous symbols of the War.

Some Other Russian-Estonian Monuments

Monument of Soviet origin in Estonia 1

While hundreds people quarrel online and offline about the Soviet Bronze Soldier monument moved to another place by Estonian authorities, some more Soviet monuments can be found treated totally with lack of any respect in the back yard of “Museum of History” in the capital of Estonia - Tallinn. Anyone can come and see Stalin, Lenin and other Russian Soviet heroes standing and lying scattered all over the backyard, together with stone tombs which were saint for all Soviet people who trusted in Soviet state, now probably waiting their turn to go to scrap site.
