Casino Flight
As we mentioned before sometime ago all casinos were banned in Russia except some special zones located far from civilization and no actual casinos were yet built there.
People doubted about those special zones rationality cause its much easier to take a flight to some nearby country than to this zone.
So apparently such flights appeared and on of the shortest routes were to Belarus - just an hour flight from Moscow. One of such flights which took a group of vip players to the grand opening of new casino crashed right near the Minsk airport few hundred meters away from destination point.
Plane Toilet. How Things Work
Quite often in everyday life people, far from aviation ask me a question “Is it true that on the plane like on the train everything (from the toilet) goes out?” Seriously, if we can see the tracks through the toilet hole on the train, it’s probably not working the same way on the plane. 9/11 in Soviet Russia
Seems that in Soviet Russia they had also an accident based on the actions that caued 9/11 tragedy.
Though in Russia it happened thirty-three years ago, in 1976.
Not much of Russian people know about that accident, it was not in Moscow or Saint-Petersburg but in rather small city of Novosibirsk, known as “Science City” - the place where a lot of Russia research centers were based in Soviet times. Even these days this city is said to be the leader in Russian offhore programming companies - tens millions dollars of offhore programing orders come there from all of the Western world.
So, back to what has happened in late seventies there. Actually it was the same scenario when man took the plane and crashed into the multistored building on purpose, with evil plans of kill and destruction in his mind.
Of course, the reasons and the scale of the accident was less smaller than twenty five years later in New York city. The thing that inclined him to this was pretty known to most of you married folks - he wanted to kill his mother in law.
It’s hard to understand now, how such way of revenge to his wife’s mother could come into his head in Russia, where no private aircrafts were owned neither companies could own any. As has been said he was a “bright comrade of Young Communist party, having access to training planes of Soviet Youth Sport Organization”. So one day he turned from a bright comrade to an evil pilot.
It’s hard to believe but he found this house correctly among the hundreds of same looking ones of the Soviet typical construction plans building whole cities of blocks of tens same looking houses. He found the correct one and then he pointed it perfectly into the flat where his wife’s parents lived.
As a result - there were twelve dead and… there was not the mother-in-law among them. She was simply out of the flat that time. They didn’t have cell phones at that times, he couldn’t call from his plane to check if he is coming right time. And of course the mister pilot was dead too.

Plane Catastrophe
Yesterday, on Sunday, August 16, two greatest Russian Sukhoi Su-27 planes crashed while doing training exercises over a cottage village. One of the planes stuck into a house like a knife into butter, the second one was led out of the village and fell on the wasteland. One of the pilots died, the two others were saved. The local people weren’t killed, but the owners of the destroyed house got badly injured with burning fuel from the plane and were immediately taken to hospital. Now the cause of the catastrophe remains unclear, but on the eyewitness account this all could happen because of a bird stuck in the engine.
Russian Jet Cabrio Flight [updated]
Those photos are real and were made during the filming of the Russian movie involving jet fighter stunts. In one episode they had to film the jet without a canopy, so rather to film it on the ground they decided to hire a high-class pilot to make a real flight without that glass thing. He had to take off a few times on such plane in order to film enough material to be included in the final footage.
“The maximum speed I achieved on the jet plane without a canopy glass was around two times greater than speed of sound. While on this speed I even managed to pull out my fingers in glove for an inch or two outside - it became heated very fast because of immense friction force plane undergoes with the air.“, writes the pilot.
“Usually such tests were conducted in winter time, so it was deadly cold without a canopy and I was pretty glad when this heating began, counting minutes before the plane would reach enough speed/velocity so that the air around becomes hot enough. But it wasn’t the main problem for me. In my personal rating of the dangers connected with such tests one of the most bad sides was the extreme roar. Because of this extreme roaring you couldn’t hear the radio so you were flying in deaf mode, you were afraid to pull throttle harder just because going faster was meaning going louder.“, he continues.
Russian Stealth Jet
Now Russia has its own stealth jet bomber. They promise to have it here already this year and start producing it in series starting 2010.
They tell that the design of the plane is still kept secret and those sketches are the only clue that people have, but as it is known it would be a decent F-22 competitor.
Plane in the House
Sometimes they use the parts of planes in designs of houses etc, but mainly those are detached villas or some sort of bars or cafes like this one Russian plane bar.
Those Russian house owners went even further and attached for some reason a Russian TU jet body to the second floor of the multi stored building.
If that’s an appartment, then just imagine how jealous are the neighbours are now.

One Russian pilot has said “Love You” to his girlfriend in a manner that the whole Perm city has learned about that too.
