Russia, 1896, in Color

Russia in the year 1896

Russia. 100 Years Ago. Again. We had it from Russian photographer Prokudin-Gorsky
whose photos are being stored in the Library of Congress in USA, but now it’s totally different
case. Photos were made by Czech photographer while on his travel thru Russia back in the
year 1896. Most of them were lost later due to two wars in Europe and other tragical things but
some still managed to survive till our year 2009 and now we can see them here.

It’s a big pity that there are only such a few of them left.

The Hostages

Russian hostages

A group of journalists were kept as hostages by a bunch of Southern looking guys dressed in military uniform. Well, almost. It is a new experience one can get in Chelyabinsk city, Russia in the recently opened special courses of “How to behave during if you was taken as a hostage”.

First a bus full of people is being stopped in the middle of nowhere by a bunch of Arabic people yelling “Allakh Akbar” each and every five seconds. Those are not real terrorists, but Russian SWAT soldiers carefully picked by appearance - with Southern roots so that they could resemble ethnical Chechen or Arabic threat.

The Building Shower

Russian house got showered

Sometimes the buildings need showers too.

In this case the underground high pressure water pipes come in very handy. When they become too worn out they demand some attention and complain about this to houses in a furious fountain way.
