The Unknown Russian Comics Books

Recently, a few series of previously unknown Soviet Russian comics books came to the daylight.
Here are the covers of some of them.
The first one is “Chekists” or if to translate it something like “Special Security Agents”. “…In 1918 the new Special Agents comics series appeared and gained huge popularity. The violence level increased with each next edition, and eventually every page had scenes of murders in it.”
Russian P Bear

One Russian book shopping network has chosen this lovely bear as a heroe meeting kids in children’s departments of their stores.
Probably it could be OK for an average family but inquiring minds of bloggers has found the similarities with a well known Internet figure.
The Art of the Book

If you ever had been in Russia you probably noticed that there are a lot of book sales in Russia. Before, in Soviet times, they had called Russians “The most reading nation of the world” for their passion to read.
Nowadays, people still fond of reading even under the pressure of dvd/internet entertainment pouring on the heads from everywhere - in good old Soviet times they had no of such available so reading was the only way out to get some fun.
The quality of reading material has changed also a lot. If before it was mainly classic literature or some modern novels carefully picked by Soviet censorship for not having something unwanted in them then today people more often read low-level detective stories or fantasy books which are being created at a great speed of thousands new titles every week.
Russian Black Comics

For some reason some Russian illustrators draw comics of people in black color. Black color is not associated with the color of the skin or race in Russia, so it’s just black.
For now, here is a series of such black comics, kind of bit weird. Translations included.
The one above is “My pussies could have whiskas instead whiskey!”
How to Earn One Million, The Book

Lately, in some Russian bookstores this book is a true bestseller. Mostly people buy it as a gift. And here is why.
First of all, it’s title is “How to earn a million?”, well this kind of titles are always very intriguing, but usually contain kind of not so worthy stuff. But believe me, not in this case.

Then there goes a contents. It says:
“1. How to earn a million? page. 1″
“2. What to do if you have not succeeded in the beginning? page. 17″
“3. What to do if you are not sure in success? page. 51″
“4. What to do if you have already earned but then spent all the money? page. 87″
But what’s in the text? Let’s see…

The Soviet Lookbok

This is the example of what Soviet Russian citizens could order by mail from their state - the only vendor in the country. It’s no surprise that literary EVERY house in the country had something from those items.
An Abandoned Library

Years before, during the Soviet Rule, books were considered to be the greatest treasure. Children in schools were taught to treat the books with care and love.
It seems now this doesn’t work. At least at some libraries.

Now Russian kids study alphabet at same time when they study car brands.
