What a View
Sometimes people pay thousands just to have some extraordinary view from their windows.
This people of Russian outskirts district didn’t pay much but once they have got some view
that can’t be compared to any other view.
Cloudy Weather

That ain’t shot from some Star Wars clone movie. That’s a district of Russian skyscrapers in Moscow shot during low clouds.
Sometimes magnificent sight.
Russian Barocco

What’s “Russian Barocco”? Obviously it’s an architectural style and it has been pretty popular among modern Russian riches.
They build real “palaces” made in a 19th century style. Hundreds of them built across the Russian river coasts.
Meet one of them. Called to be the pearl amongst of its kind. It’s even has a Russian orthodox church building embedded into the house, probably with a “court” priest living there.
It’s pretty hard to understand how they stay sane being in the interiors like this, but probably they got used.
The Central Olympic Stadium of Sochi 2014

The main emblem of the Olympic Games is not bears with the five circles on the ab and not foxes or little dancing men, but Olympic objects, or architecture. Russian Sochi City is now being filled with awesome structures which are designed to take away the breath of the place’s visitors. There is only five years left for preparation as the Winter Olympic Games are going to be launched already in five years. The main point about it that the architectural objects are to remain as a part of the city, so each of them, no matter how gorgeous it is, has to be usability-proved for decades. The Central Stadium seems to one of the most practical objects suggested (you can see its drafts below ). (more…)
New Technology of Construction

In good old times they had built houses differently. In Russia there was a construction standard of two and a half brick thickness for a wall of a residential house. This was done in order to insulate the people’s dwellings from -30 frosts hitting Russia in winters.
Later, when USSR collapsed, and they started free economics the standards were no longer followed by the most of the developers due to the high cost of the brick. It is much cheaper to make a thin one brick wall and then cover it with some high-tech insulation materials that provide same heat conservation as three brick thick wall.
It is even more cheaper to buy such materials from Chinese producers. Unfortunately, those are not always made according to industry standards. Insulation layers should be extremely fire proof. Unfortunately, not this time.
The Seven Sisters Project

„Seven sister project” in Moscow is one of most ambitious projects in mid-20th century. Between 1947 and 1953 on the orders of Jozef Stalin they built seven similar skyscrapers that were meant to be rivals to USA’s skyscrapers.

The Building Shower

Sometimes the buildings need showers too.
In this case the underground high pressure water pipes come in very handy. When they become too worn out they demand some attention and complain about this to houses in a furious fountain way.
There is a video inside too.
Some Facts on the Kremlin

The Moscow Kremlin is a very old historic fortified complex at the very heart of Moscow and it has four palaces, four cathedrals, the well-known Kremlin Wall around it and great Kremlin towers. The complex used to be an official residence of the head of Russia when Moscow was its capital and is now the government’s headquarters. Several structures were built in stone at the behest of Ivan Kalita in the late 1320s and early 1330s, and then the construction of churches began. At first the great wall was wooden, but to protect the area from fire it was demolished and the stone wall appeared.
Plane in the House

Sometimes they use the parts of planes in designs of houses etc, but mainly those are detached villas or some sort of bars or cafes like this one Russian plane bar.
Those Russian house owners went even further and attached for some reason a Russian TU jet body to the second floor of the multi stored building.
If that’s an appartment, then just imagine how jealous are the neighbours are now.
Abandoned Prince’s House

Today we have a series of very nice piece of architecture staying abandoned for quite a lot already. It is from Abkhazia region, the place that was under Russian rule long before communists came to power. It’s located on the Black Sea and was so beloved by old Russian upper class that they called it “Russian Riviera”. This place has probably the most picturesque abandons from ex Soviet places. We had once the old abandoned railway station from there, if you don’t remember take look here it was very nice looking series too. Today some shots of the abandoned Prince’s House, built almost two centuries ago by special Royal order.

That’s how it looked when prince got it.
It was not very long the prince could enjoy it, the communists took over and nationalized most of the luxury property in Russia. During Soviet Era the house was turned in elite summer residence for Moscow higher up men.

That’s how the placed look when it was conversed to the Hotel “Seagull” by the personal order of J. Stalin

So let’s see what’s left there today.
