Playing World War 2

Role playing is hobby for some young and not so young men and women in Russia too.
The storylines are different, amongst most popular are World War 2 and the War with France of 1812.
This time the photos from the WW2 simulation. Was taking place in Ekaterinburg city, and that’s not something about shooting the movie - just a pure fun of dedicated people.
Victory Day Agitation

In Russia they have celebrated “The Victory Day” a few days ago. Most of the cities were decorated with billboards regarding this date etc etc.
Some of the billboard authors failed big time. For example this billboard from Chelyabinsk city, reading “Happy Victory Day” has a picture of a few soldiers on the tank.
People from internet got a closer look for that picture and has found that these are… Nazi soldiers standing near the captured Russian tank celebrating their small victory. Below is the bigger picture.
Some other fails also are listed downthere:

Lenin and Nazis

Just a one shot post showing what did Nazi soldiers liked to do with Lenin monuments during World War 2…
Nazi Robots

These days many Russian online communities hit by the discussion of these photos. They were published in one popular Russian blog and the guy who published claimed that he has found the unique rare photographs of his grandfather from WW2 when he encountered the Nazi Robots. Of course many didn’t believe this and found the same things are in Lucas “Star Wars” movie, but many were fooled and this caused a big buzz, spread across many blogs.
Kaput Your Mercedesen

This is another example of contemporary Russian popular music. This song is called “Meine Kleine” and they use Nazi uniforms, also the plot looks very strange:
Nazi Lvov

These day Lvov (Lviv) city downtown looks like it was again oppressed by Nazi troops…
Flags on the buildings, soldiers in Nazi uniform, some aren’t shy when yell “Zieg Heil” Nazi greeting for the passers by.
Soccer Nazis

Recently on some Russian and Ukrainian stadiums new type of soccer (football as they call soccer in Europe) fans appeared. They call themselves “Soccer Nazis”, they wear Ku Klux Klan type robes and hats and come to games with Nazi flags depicting crosses or even with full size human dolls made of dark material. They yell motos like “Monkeys go home”, meaning that they are against the new players in Russian and Ukrainian teams which come by contracts from African countries. Most people look at them like at a live circus visiting football games but to what it may overgrow nobody knows no.
Kaliningrad Before and After

Do you know a German philosopher Immanuel Kant? He left in easternmost part of Germany in the city called Konigsberg. Today this city is not called Konigsberg any more, it is Kaliningrad now, the most westernmost city of Russia and the things so are already for 60 years. After the WW2 this region came under the Soviet rule, together with so-much-discussed Estonia and other Baltic Countries. These countries are now independent, cutting the only on-ground roads and railroads leading to Kaliningrad, so now the city and the area around it is fully cut off from the Russian mainland but still stays the part of Russian Federation even it is separated so much from it. You can see Kaliningrad as a leftmost red dot on this map of Western Russia.
Here we have 23 pairs of photos of Kaliningrad from kng750.kanet.ru showing the city before the Russian rule and World War 2 in distant 1939 and nowadays, year 2005. You can make your own conclusions on how the WW2 affected the city, and how Russian rule affected it too.

Russians and Germans - Brothers Forever

Yesterday we had a photo of Russian and Nazi officers posing together being in friendly relations - just before Nazi invaded Russia.
Today someone submitted us a photo from a family archive which was made already during the Nazi invasion to Russia. Russian Orthodox Christian priest and a Nazi German officer looking like old-time pals. Maybe that’s because Soviets oppressed church in Russia but Germans came and they started feel themselves free? But Germans were catholics and it was not so easy for them to accept another branch of church. Who knows, too many lies were issued by governments and too much truth was concealed.
German Nazi and Soviets Were Friends

Right before the WW2 often you could meet German Nazi and Soviet officers chatting together in Europe like friends on different parades and military events. Even when the whole Europe was occupied by the Nazis they were in friendly relations with Russians. They say that the German attack on the Soviet Union was a big surprise to Mr. Stalin and he didn’t want to believe first hours after the attack started that it had happened, didn’t give any order to counter-attack, he was waiting this would stop as some big error from German side.
