Since space exploration rose much higher than the sky last decade, every country set itself a goal to keep it going not to be on the back foot. Most probably, every one of you has already heard about commonly known Baikonur spaceport, so today we are going to tell you a bit about the other one, less known spaceport as well as about launching of a space vehicle.

This is an Abandoned Missile Launch Site. What it differs from other of such kind is that it has launched really big rockets that traveled to orbit, and what else - it was not destroyed like all the other sites left by Soviet army but is left untouched in the desert of Kazakhstan for anyone to visit.

Russia has successfully test launched an intercontinental ballistic missile from its northern space-vehicle launching site, Plesetsk, the ITAR-TASS news agency reported Aug. 3 The intercontinental Topol class ballistic missile, also known in the West as the CC-25, was launched on Aug. 3 at 1:38 pm Moscow time from a mobile launching installation, sources from the northern cosmodrome told ITAR-TASS.
The aim of the test was to assure that the exploitation period of the missile could be extended, a Russian space forces’ press-service representative told Regions.ru online daily. (more…)
