Kiev: Moscow Bridge

post-3-12615684516669

There is one thing that every big city cannot be borne and live without. Water is the only vital source that exists on the Earth and we cannot hold out even a day without it. Therefore every capital city has a river flowing through the very center of it. And so Dnepr the Great streams through the center of Ukraine’s capital, the city of Kiev. There are lots of bridges that are built in Kiev but today we will tell you about the longest and busiest one. Moscow Bridge.

Kiev Cars

luxury cars in Kiev Ukraine
We’ve seen a lot of nice cars from Russia here already. It’s no secret there a lot of them: a British journalist once said that only in Moscow could he see several Lamborghinis or Ferraris stopped at one traffic light.

So we wondered if this was a cultural thing.  First we looked to Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, another piece of the USSR that gained its independence not even twenty years ago. While the Ukraine has been less fortunate in terms of natural resources, the stamp of Soviet heritage is strong and many Ukrainians even prefer Russian as their primary language.  So we deduced this could mean only one thing—there should be tons of luxury cars there too.

Thus, we set on a brief examination of the streets of Kiev and it looks like we were right: yet another country with an average salary under 25 grand but with cars costing over $200,000.

No Chances

Russian car in Kiev

Down there it was met by the pingles of metal carcass, so it was literary poked through, then same moment it got on fire too, leaving absolutely no chances for the passengers.

Wrong Photo

Kiev mayor Leonid Chernovetsky in paedophile article
The mayor of Kiev city, Leonid Chernovetsky.

Yesterday one of the Britain’s most popular newspapers has published an article about such nasty thing as paedophiles. They needed a photo to illustrate the article so they got one, probably from the online photo banks selling loyalty free photos cheap, probably by just searching for “lie detector” keyword. They blured the face - well, it’s not something where they could not not blur it, and published. But when Russian audience got access to the article they found out that blured-faced-guy is a hero of many Russian internet lore - the mayor of the Kiev city Mr. Leonid Chernovetsky, known in Russia as Leonid-Cosmanaut for his weird behavior, manners and statements.

Parking Sand

Russian parking in Ukraine 3

What has happened to this parking lot in Kiev is following. At night there was flood that brough a lot of water and sand to the places below some level and then in the morning the water was gone but sand and dirt stayed at its place, so when the car owners came to drive out from the lot they found their cars half stuck in sand, right in the middle of the city.
