In one Russian town they have started publishing newspapers on… plastic bags that you get in grocery stores.
The edition is always fresh, so each time you get back from the store you can get your portion of news, puzzles and even ads before sending the piece of plastic into trash bin.
Euro Social Ad

Those are not EURO bills, though they look almost like them. Those are prints of new social ad from Ukraine. If you look carefully on those bills you can see small depictions of young ladies standing near the buildings. There is a big problem of young women moving from Ukraine to Europe for better life but working as prostitutes there. These ladies on the pictures symbolize those girls, and there are also small the words like “This is how much you can get leaving abroad illegally” pointing to the nominal cost of the 5,10 or 50 EURO bills.
Bank Ad

Russian biggest bank “Sberbank” has implemented mobile “Sberbi’s” to attract new customers, but some people say that looking at those creatures it’s hard to believe in safety of their deposits.
The Video Sunday
Every week many of new videos appear in Russian part of Internet. Some of them become very popular and circulate among numerous Russian blogs etc. We often put them here too and now decided to collect them all during the week and publish in one separate post let’s say on Sundays. So meet the first video Sunday.
The first video was made by some Russian guys as an answer to the speech of Condoleezza Rice. It was that time when she expressed the position about Russian actions in South Ossetia and Georgia. The makers of this video replaced Condi with Darth Vader and …, well, see it yourself above. The video got very popular in Russia last week.
The next video was widely discussed on Russian Internet last week. It’s an ad from Pioneer electronics company saying “Better use GPS when travel to distant and unknown places”.
And now some Russian music. This video was a true hit last week among bloggers and others. It’s an example of Russian gangsta-rap. The rising star is Slava Mook, was warmly accepted by many, many requests for mp3 and HD versions were posted and Slava promised to continue publishing his new songs. It’s easy to become popular these days.

During all the April Russian geeks were waiting for the iPhone from Apple to be released in Russia.
There were plenty of the signs: big billboards across the Moscow city made in Apple-style with the word “iSoon” in Russian and the date of April, 22st, 2008, itunes-store.ru webdomain with the same ad and many more “good signs” for those who wanted the localized iPhone. All the geek communities had a major buzz on this topic too.
But when the day X had come, it came out that they were all fooled. It turned to be a virus ad campaign by… Contex, the worldwide condom producer. They decided to advertise in this way their new condoms…
The Biggest Ad Space in Russia

This one is the biggest ad in Russia. It’s square size is more than one and a half acres! (6000 m2). It is situated in the center of Moscow city and has a few full size cars sticked to it, with back lights and headlights on in the evening.
