Viral Video of the Week from Internet:

The site is full of negative info about my native country.
Looks like an American anti-Soviet propaganda of Cold War times. Have you guys seen anything in Russia except drowned tractors, street fights and drunk subway bums?..
I respectfully disagree.
Don’t be offended so easily, it is just humor.
Plus, I don’t think you represent the majority.
Both Americans and Russian are pretty sharp-witted people, and laugh good-naturedly a lot.
Looks like you’re not one of them!
Also, I was translated a lot of Russian anecdotes, and I believe Russian laugh yourselves pretty often. Even in Gulag no censorship can stop them!
Americans do the same (you should know if you live in USA).
Humor has some exaggeration, and nobody has to be so easily offended.
American comedians ridicule our president pretty often, sometimes even being invited by president to big red carpet ceremony translated by national TV. Comedians touch Christianity, use racial slur, use taboo words, offensive (in regular circumstances) remarks.
Conversely, many people are convinced that Russian president cannot handle even the slightest sarcasm directed against him.
Just my 2 pennies.
My friend, of course I do not have a mandate to defend the previous comments but you definitely would not like to see hundreds of humiliating ’sarcastic’ photos about your countrymen and about the negative ’specifics’ of your your country’s everyday life (not about the president or politics as you intentionally picture it). Like vomiting cowboys, drugtrafficing Afro-Americans, juicy pictures of the Virginia Tech massacre or overweigth stupid looking Yankees in their typical shorts and sneakers e.g. at the Neuschwanstein castle in Bavaria which they believe to be in France…
So with all due respect, these pictures and their widespread publication have nothing to do with President Putin or the socio-political system in Russia but rather with taste and respect for ordinary people’s culture (whatever it is like).
man… pozhimau ruku - totaly agree. the owners of the site are probably one of those “obizhnennye na zhizn” type of people, if you know what i mean
We do have that all over the regular media plus in magazines, and on the web. SO dont worry be happy! I visit russia almost every year and it is a great country Most of the people I meet over there are good folks, some are bad just like it is anywhere else.
If modern Russia would not be such an arrogant bully then possibly people would not think it is funny to point to Great Russia’s shitty pants…
Freedom of speech! Everybody can say / post whatever they want! I you do not like it, don’t read it / watch it.
What’s your problem? Have some fun in life. If people didn’t have “anecdotes” during Soviet times the life would be thousand times more difficult. You are talking like one of those dumb politically correct communists in 30s to 80s. Do you cry listening to Zadornov or Zhvanetskiy?
You should be bloody grateful for this site, because people in Western countries read, look, laugh, and think: “wow, may be I should go and visit Russia some time and spend my money on a holiday there”. Your stupid nationalism will never help to solve the economic problems. People like you are indirectly breeding the animals like skinheads.
As for the web-site author/s, the amount of grammar and style mistakes is obvious to anybody who is very fluent in English: I bet the author/s are Russian. I could volunteer to edit your posts in my spare time - your blog would definitely look then like a “CIA produced” web-site (LOL).
In my opinion, it is not nationalism that he projects, but concern that the site is an attack against the his people.
Your exaggeration concerning skinheads and your belief that the negligible number of people that are likely to eventually visit the country, convinced by its sarcastic portrayal on this site could in any way influence the economy of any land (not to mention the largest in the world), show that you have a very poor understanding of the matters discussed.
>> Plus, I don’t think you represent the majority.
Oh, I think he does.
If you want to know something about Russia - read Tolstoy not englishrussia.com
Humour. You sure have a wierd sense of it. I’ve been browsing through comments and I must say they are horrible and full of hate. I am not a Russian by the way. The ignorance of some people is beyond me. How can they stuck something so great and magnificent in a few lines of hate posts.
This site contains only highlighted negative info about Russia. It’s same as i can to create website with only fat and ugly american peoples and add to the site info about silly causes, idiotic episodes.
I was born in Russia and lived there for 27 years, havent seen anything good there!!!
Hi there Misha — could we converse a bit? I had some ?s regarding typical RUssian life…foods, environment, day to day living objectives, regions…I want to better understand if it is more of a struggle or something different individuals get used to and try to leave or just become desensitized in living — or maybe see the west as over-bearing, spoiled — any information is greatly appreciated…just wish general info…
thanx
WES
You need a doctor, Misha
most intelligent Russian people realize the fucked upness of Russia and manage to still laugh at that shit. To all those er.com haters: vy libo v lapu, ili v zhopu daete.
I was born and raise in Moscow, and have been living in the US for the past 12 years out of my 27. I can tell first hand what shit living it was. I am still being nostalgic, so thats why I come here.
natasha, before i started reading your second paragraph i knew right away that you are from moscow: what is you rate za vzhopy - or dad’s rate? you fucking cunt - i don’t know who you are but i can see you fucking a chechen.
I would agree with you here to some degree. I am a Ukranian residing in US and this site does seem negativistic because some of their stuff is not even all that funny, granted it’s a matter of opinion.
Looking at this from another angle, however, many humorists like Zhvaneski, Zadorny, Verka Serdiuchka & Co. have also based their humor on negative aspects of life, exagerating it to a large degree. This is in part what dark humor is all about anyway - when you can’t change something you try to attact attention to it by using sarcasm and humor.
> The site is full of negative info about my native country. Looks like an American anti-Soviet propaganda of Cold War times.
The only way to get rid of negative things is to correct it, not to hide from others and from yourself. Like in Soviet times, the government fools people by trying not to show negative things.
Anyway, the content is rather humoristic than negative.
this anti-Russia propaganda site would surely promote the invation of Georgia forgotting to mention that Georgia bombed the capital of South Ossetia FIRST killing 4,000 people (and forcing 30,000 people to flee in refugee camps in Russia ) this on the recommandation of American CondiRice, ONLY AFTER did Russia push back the Georgian army where they belong in their capital of Georgia
It’s is nice to see that mysterious one sixth of the world has its problems also… I love this sight.
As a present resident of the little town in the Ukraine near L’viv, you people over here need to sit back, crack a cold one, light a fatty and lighten the fuck up and learn to laugh. Seriously. Instead of saying to yourselves “I can’t”, say “I can”.
As for criticism, you need to take you lumps just like we (Westerners)do. The next time you see a bum on your door step puking, pour cold water on the twit. Buddy crashes his L deliberately, say,”thanks asshole for jacking up my car insurance!” and go find a new buddy. Somebody starts drinking at 8 am in the morning and wants to work with you on the job, complain. Putin needs to lighten up to… rockets fly both ways.
Welcome reality kids. No more soviet propaganda to tell that heat and water 2 hours a day in the winter is the best there is!!!
And by the way, smile. The KGB is gone!
R
This site appears to have a nasty NGO-style negative propaganda edge to it. You can smell ‘em a mile away. Try doin’ something in the NATO Pact and you’ll be put on a list.
I’m Russian, and I think this is pretty funny:)
This website is great!
I’m from the USA. I like this site because it shows the Russian people in an everyday setting. I especially liked the Russian veteran looking at the T-34.
If you want to see our cities, just type in ‘Detroit Abandoned’. on YOUTUBE. It’s falling apart.
I think what I really learned here, is the Russian people are good people. Not the bad commies we were taught as a kid.
John from Florida……..
I think this site is pathetic.
Most of pictures are made to look negative for Russia. And its american propaganda.
“American propaganda” the owners/contributors of this site are obviously Russian themselves.
All you people should just mellow out, I loved to see the ghost towns and what not, most of it simply dates back to different times for Russia, whether good or bad they’re part of history.
I didn’t get a bad impression though, all of it was quite interesting, and lets face it, part of reality.
Russians are stupid assholes who oppressed Europe for so long a time that no European nation has forgiven them yet, and never wlll.
America where naked man, making coffee in his own house and neighbour with her child accidentally sees him through this man’s kitchen window, is sentenced 5 years in prison !!! Land of the free ? Fuck Russia, Fuck America and fuck me !
“We are here to inform you about it”
inform me about the macdonalds and fatness in so-called “great-wise-rich” countries… poor obsessed people on this blog. what about this big word “tolerance”? i can buy and send you a useful tool to shave your head. Then wear a red arm-band with nationalistic sign on it, and go to hell, all of you responsible for this blog.
Thank you for this website!
great web site! great and interesting posts! thank you for providing this english language resource. I am Russian myself, who left Russia many years ago. Again, thanks for posting!
I would like more positive news on what’s going on in Russia and Ukraine. A few years ago I visited Ukraine. I would love to travel there again because the people are so nice and I love the culture and food. Well, I know you can think of some good things to write about the Russian speaking countries. I’ll check back.
Seems to me that the detractors are too prideful and are missing the rather good-natured humor in this blog. There are countless websites for other countries that show the goofy or unusual things that Americans, Japanese, Europeans do and see in their countries every day. What is wrong with one for Russia?
Also - there is simply no denying that this stuff is all very real. Tractors really do get stuck in ponds or mud. Degenerates really do get drunk and pass out on the Metro. Haven’t we all seen this? I think Russia is a big enough country to look at itself in the mirror, warts and all. If you want a fairy-tale version of life in Russia, I’m afraid you detractors are going to have to write it yourself.
If you want a fairy-tale version of life in Russia, I’m afraid you detractors are going to have to write it yourself - Don’t worry. Putin has established that kind of writing on industrial basis.
They lived on fairy-tales throughout the Stalin’s period and later on too. Short period of freedom under Yeltsin when their eyes started to open was too terrifying for them because of what they saw. Now Putin is closing their eyes again, bringing them back to the comforting warmth of ignorance.
Russia again is Great, enemies (West in general and USA in particular) again/still are lurking around the Russias’s borders, people love the Leader and everyone is happy…
I’m sad that you’ll prolly never see this comment, because it would serve as a great reminder: “Short period of freedom under Yeltsin” took more lives than long periods of oppression under Stalin.
Seriously. Your little comment annoyed me more than all these exaggerations of Russian (CIS?) reality depicted on this blog. Which, by the way, would do its job of providing humorous content about Russian day-to-day happenings really well if its objective really was providing said humorous content. Come on, mysterious author guys, you seem to go all over the place for your picturesque posts. Surely you realise that “something interesting” doesn’t equal “something stupid”. Stupid is good, but that’s not all there is to it.
Have a great day.
why there is no information about the author of this site? Who are you? Where are you from? Do you make this alone?
I laughed a lot watching the videos & pictures. I miss my country so much… thank you for the pleasure.
Yes.
Please tell them your name and preferably address too.
There is still polonium left. Unfortunately Mr. Lugovoi is busy going for seat in Russian Parliament now ( http://www.themoscowtimes.com/stories/2007/09/18/002.html ) , but they will easily find someone else to server the Motherland.
Yes….It’s a funny site….But it seems as if it’s the only thing u know about Russia…Only about drunk people and so on….For All foreign people Russia is USSR and other countries…..RUssia,Ukraine,Belarus,Kazhastan…….Doesn’t matter…All together..But they’re different countries with different people who speak diffrent languages
I wish people knew more about my great country…It’s a pity that most of foreigners are sure that USA won the 2d World War…Not Russia…Young people don’t know anything about Russia, even our President.Whereas I in my 15 know about all countries in English
The author of this site…Where are u?
Ma chère Kate de quinze ans.
As a matter of fact in all those “different countries with different people who speak diffrent languages” there is a considerable number of Russian speaking people who consider Soviet Union their Motherland and are very sorry it ever broke up (as it was said by “our President” : http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/4480745.stm ).
The Great Mother Russia currently is trying to re-unite them in a kind-of a network to promote it’s interests in the world. This generally is known as a Fifth column ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fifth_column ).
So it is not utterly incorrectly to talk about all those countries as a single lump, including even the now-EU member states of Baltics, as a single area where “russophones” with their specific ex-post-neo-Soviet culture can be found, which has been forged since the day Lenin took power in Russia.
P.S. I would not be so sure that your “president” (the Leader) Pudding is not well known in the West. I guess everyone has heard about his declarations about “killing chechens in a toilet” (mochit’ v sortire) and his remark to some people he did not like that he will “cut their testicles off” (pod koren obrezhem chtoby ne vyroslo)…
P.P.S. “It’s a pity that most of foreigners are sure that USA won the 2d World War” - is there something else people in Russia are capable of thinking than how “great” they were in the “Great Patriotic War” (whatever that was. closest approximation actually is: GPW = WWII - Russian colonial wars)?
Mostly right, but VladimirPutin is doing a great job trying to save what is left of the Russian resources especially Oil and preventing the predators(Cheney,Halliburton,Rockefellers,Sorros) to take control of Russia, and encircling the country with missiles to restart the arms race the Bush way
It Is for me a sad site made by uneducated ignorants who do not know the difference between UnitedNations (an international organisation with a democratic foundation)and UnitedStates (where there is no democracy, AlGore had 530,000 votes more than Bush and his TexanMafia) arrogantly pushing the UN and trying to run the world with guns and by legalizing torture, making it a business the Halliburton way killing several millions of civilians in Afghanistan and turning Irak (in an illegal war) into a mess where at least one million of civilians killed till now, second world war against Germany was won by Russia of course, second part against Japan was won by USA only because they used the Atomic bomb. ————-Later the financial advisor of Reagan discovered how the soviet system financed itself and with the help of the Saudis, decided to turn it bankrupt thanks mainly to G.Sorros
Please tell me more about the Reagan/Sorros plan.
If you want to know who really is George Sorros, just type in google “heather cottin” she will explain, as for Reagan, maybe you already know (I hope) he permitted the retirement funds to be “invested” in the stock market (see Neil Bush) and lot of retired people lost their lifesavings and destroyed the SovietUnion turning it bankrupt by blocking the currency transfers between the 5 little european banks owned by USSR and with the Saudis by keeping Oil prices at an alltime low for two years, Oil being the main export of USSR. (hopefully without using Armament)
If the USA did not enter the war then the national language of Russia would now be German. I take nothing away from our brave
soldiers and the resolve of our people but we could not have
defeated Germany without the USA. My question now is whether
we would be better off under Hitler or Stalin? Our great leader of the 20th century was Gorbachov.
By my opinion this site is simple email address gatherer to send spam. Why this site have no author? Because of this.
who cares. there is already so much spam that even if it would be so it would not matter.
I think some of you guys may be missing the point ,Im from poland and traveled to russia as well and we all know there are beatiful things in poland and russia but this isnt a news site to report the good and the bad ,its just ment to be funny.I give it 12 out of 10 lol
what can an educated person find so funny on it
I gather you are NOT an educated person. By your previous comments, it seems that you are a stuck up douchebag conspirator with a dick stuck deep in his asshole. Good job makin yourself look like a total chode!
This site is not about fun and entertainment, it’s a typical example of western propaganda against Russia. It’s really sad that western civilization is actually becoming the 2nd Soviet Union - i.e. “if you’re not like us, you’re wrong”. Everything that I saw here can be seen in America, GB and Europe (and probably worse!) and I can tell, ’cause I lived on both sides of the border.
The good thing is - Russia doesn’t care about this bull*** and neither do any of the non-western nations. Truth is, America is going down, like any major power (look in the history books), so it’s only a matter of time for you guys… We’ll see who will be laughing in the end.
A lot of what I see writte here is a little oversensitive. I love eastern European culture and come to this site for the funny side of it.
I laugh also at the funny things the French do, the Spanish, and the English too.
Maybe there’s a website called Russian England or similar that laughs at us and our funny hats and constant rain?
Be confident in your great country, accept that some things are funny to Western eyes, and enjoy it.
you forgot to mention that it is financed by CIA.
Absolutely RIGHT, in the communist system especially in the Krouchef era, health care was free, everybody had low cost housing and transportation, unemployment was unexistent and there was a little parcel of land for everybody, Communism means using the resourses for the community, Now a few super rich and a majority of poors like soon in US where corruption is legalized under the name of lobbeying and the middle class is slowly dissapearing
If there were no guns and fences all of people would run away from this communist paradise. You are too stupid to uderstand why.
You are an ignorant piece of shit, and I am sure you have never lived under communism yourself. Ask me how well people lived, I’ll tell you.
Ok, I think authors should place a banner that will read: “Materials on this site must not be considered as a news reports of Russian daily life, but rather as the most funny (or may be shocking) points of it…” Russian life isn’t so bad as some foreign visitors may determine after reading…
(Pardon for possible mistakes)
they banned me
How is that possible? So much cock talking here and no one seems to get banned… What have you done? The Webmaster doesn’t seem to care anyway…
Because…
IGOR IS A BALDY FAG!
well.. this site is hels by anti-russian FBI-paid people. everyperson trying to argue them will be banned.
say good bye to this site.
it it paid by the foes of Russia.
farewell.
//ski88er
this site is interesting.but yeah i hate it when some fatass writes some comment like: whoa thats pretty amazing, how can those people live like that,i’m glad i’m a fatass rich kid from west.
I think that you’re, guys, have never live “a real life”. You are full, selfish and dunces. Only MCdonalds, mtv and cola, yes? And that is all that you know.
That’s a pretty broad statement. The world is large, and a lot of people know a lot of things besides McDonald’s, MTV & cola. Have you lived in the U.S. or other countries? There are diverse lifestyles. Anyway, this site is just funny and yet still informative. The same way The Daily Report in the U.S. makes fun of America, and it’s funny and yet still informativ. It’s called humor and open discussion.
This site is awesome. The funny stuff is hillarious, but there are also interesting things.Anyway,I’m from Romania, and I’ve seen stuff like this before
This website sucks there is no thing about Russian art or society or modern lifestyle!
FUCK YOU!
IT’S ALL ABOUT “IGOR IS A BALDY FAG!”
What can be more interesting???
OK!
Let as start a new thread!
If you write “ХУЙ” on a fence - is that art or politics?
Scheiße an die Wände schmieren!
FUCK YOU AS WELL! LOL
Great site, really enjoy reading the articles.
One thing I dislike however is all the retards posting comments who are either very anti-Russian or so patriotic that they can’t accept fact from fiction!
It seems that the authr(s) of this site are young, brainwashed Russian westernizers who are trying to be the “class clown” by making fun of their own country (and families) in bad english to be accepted as cool by the western “kids”
oh this could also be done by a “recent” immigrant, recruited by either a (sub-par_ college or some sort of commerical enterprise
According to YouTube, the author of this site is actually from America. That would explain all the crap he/she puts on this site.
I found your site to be really funny. The pictures were really good and to be honest it made me miss the time I was in Russia. These photos may look funny, but I think it shows part of the personality of Russians that is more layed back and I like it.
I really think some of the people on this site should not be on it. If it’s so bad, why are you wasting your time replying and posting comments about it? Don’t waste your time. And to top it off this is obviously not for news or current events. We can find those on any tv station. This site shows some real pictures of things in Russia. And get real they are not all degrating. I found the add about the 2nd largest structure in the world to be really interesting. And some of the plane pictures and others are informative.
Also by posting these nasty replies you are just justifing it is true, and also pissing people off. This site is good, not bad for your country.
Don’t be so pissed off. This site is ment for a laugh, we all need that now and then.
Great site, it really made my day.
All post are taked from russians funny sites.
I am from Australia and have visited Russia twice recently . What a great site you have, and what open and such lovely fresh people Russia has. I just love your humour as it along with your television is the best in the world. In many ways you as a people are very much like Australians. Keep it up !!!!!!!! Russia is such an emerging destination and I can’t wait to go back. I was actually looking at this site reliving and experiancing the very things that facinate me about Russia …. Pretentious western ways are booring and empty
Yet another scrappy site
visit udaff.com that’s is funny
Check this out!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUMreEYfUL0
Moderator,
Please say interpret these horrifying pictures. What has happened here? How long ago were these taken? Do large numbers of people live like this in the area? Is there anyway to help them?
http://unlim.kiev.ua/news/1547/
FUCK YOU! LOL
Texas1 - I read the article you mentioned and apparently these are people who are addicted to narcotics. They live together and in horrible circumstances because they have to spend all of their money in the attempt to obtain more drugs. Sometimes they force the women to perform sexual favors for a number of men in order to receive the drugs they want.
It doesn’t say when the pictures were taken or where, but I’m guessing it’s in Kiev, Ukraine because that’s where the site is based.
This is indeed terrible to look at and maybe the moderator knows more…
~M~
It certainly doesn’t make Russians look good to be so angry and hateful, calling people “fat western kids”. Maybe Russians just haven’t learned yet how to deal with freedom of expression and the fact that it goes both ways. Meaning that abusing someone you disagree with isn’t a proper exercise of your own freedoms.
I love this site and I dont find it to be degrading in any way to any Soviet person. The site features real pics, videos and stories about what went on and what currently goes on in the republics of former Soviet Union.
Somebody please destroy this site its all lies about russia
oh yes, all of there are lies. yes, of coz.
we are sorry to even look at those photos.
I think the americans put russian ID’s on their cars and photoshop the photos just to make it like it was taken in russia - am I right?
Yep. That’s true. This site is filsy Western propaganda. What you see here is 100% fake.
We all live in Matrix.
I don’t like this site at all. I’m sorry but where I should smile??? This is humor only for the stupid and primitive people who don’t know too much not only about Russia or other countries but also can’t think. It is very sad ..And, Russian humor absolutely different from this crab..
all four previous comments by morrons who dont know what Russia is! I lived there. All pics and videos are TRUE!
all 4 previous comments left by morrons, all pics and videos are true! I lived there.
ill smash ur face u fagget u dont know shit and dont sya russia is ukrain
You all just need to get a grip. There are American counterparts to many of this website’s postings. Think deep south -redneck culture.
Who cares where the creator of this site is from?
I’m from former SU, none of the pics here suprise me.
Yes racism exists in Russia, as it does in U.S. If you highlight only that, you’d think everyone is U.S. is a racist.
Poverty exists in both, as does stupidity.
Take it with a grain of salt. These pics depict only a small fragment of Soviet/modern Russian life, there is much, much more.
I have to admit I really enjoy this site, it´s on my favourites and I visit it almost daily.
I think some of this stuff is only funny to foreigneirs, for some russian who can not laught for themselves this might be too heavy stuff. I myself have lived 3 years in Russia and I can say material shown in this page is sometimes sad, sometimes funny, BUT allways true!!
Russia - country where everything is possible.
Thank you and keep on posting!
There is not much on this site to laugh about it,some pictures are funny, but the most is BS.
If you are really interested in russia, then have a look here:
http://www.skyscrapercity.com/forumdisplay.php?s=c4db3996fe4ae133d69db7ccd95c3694&f=345
LOL, anyone who can read the Russian in that linked forum probably already knows all they need to know about Russia. That’s the big attraction of this site, a site in English, written by Russians. I’m one of those capitalist imperialist yankee dogs (or whatever your leaders used to call us LOL) from the United States. Born in ‘61 a few months before the Berlin Wall was built, I grew up during the Cold War, so the Soviet Union was the biggest thing outside of my country that was ever discussed. The Space Race captivated me as a child. I’m sure we were both fed misinformation by our governments about each other, just as I am equally sure that the average Soviet citizen had no more ill will towards us than the average American had towards you. For the record, no one ever told me that the Russian people were evil. Their leaders, well… As always, the politicians cause the worst trouble.
I only found this site yesterday, and have found it interesting to learn about Russia from a citizen, instead of from a newspaper or politician. Especially the posts about life back in the days of the Soviet Union, which played such a large part of my interest in the world as a child. Of course I know no more about the authors than anyone else, but the language used is certainly convincing to me, it reminds me of Elena from http://www.kiddofspeed.com/. It seems extremely unlikely that the CIA has anything to do with this, lol.
I can say that this site does not make me believe that all Russians are drunks, or any of the other stereotypes you may be worried about. As others have mentioned, there are good and bad people everywhere, and the Soviet Union had some remarkable accomplishments. Most blogs having to do with America are not complimentary either, lol. But you can’t ignore facts. The Soviet Union was very determined to prevent any negative information from ever becoming known outside the USSR. It was a time of wasteful competition, that resulted in many technical advances, but for all the wrong reasons. It’s too bad that the Internet didn’t exist back then. If we had had this type of free communication between ordinary citizens back then, perhaps so much waste of resources and energy on hatred could have been avoided. I love the fact that people can communicate and travel as they wish between our countries now.
Very funny Website, however lets not take it too seriously. Much of the views and opinions expressed on this site are generally- anti-Russian and inaccurate. However this fake image of Russia,- makes Russia, its people and culture, seem more interesting and wild than it really is. And I have nothing against that, However I do advise people seeking to find real Russia to visit it someday, instead of basing their opinions on what they saw and herd on this sight.
Love the site though!!!!
A couple of words from a native Russian girl about this: http://englishrussia.com/?p=729
Just because someone was brave enougth to note that “All the inscriptions are exactly translated from Russian”. Nothing personal or national. Just some BIG BUGS. Here we go.
1)word “friendly” has NOTHING to do with the original word “дружный” (”druzhnyi”). In fact English has no one-word equivalent for this thing, at least I could not find one. It means something like “one who is good at cooperating and communicating with others in order to achieve something”. Word was usually used to show the unity of some group (eg classmates, co-workers, family etc).
2) “Moscow Subway Scheme. It was smaller that days.” - I was born in Miscow, and yet I’ve never known, that Nevskij is already a part of our city.
This is an old scheme of St.Petersburg (former Leningrad) subway!!! And it did’t grow much bigger since then, in fact…
3)”Preved, isn’t it?” - No, it isn’t. Just because Russian native tales were written long before “udaff.com” domain was registred. We did have many cards and posters which may seem funny today, but this one is definetely not one of them.
4)”St. Petersburg’s famous bridges which are open at night so none can cross the city.”
A little correction: bridges are open only in summer, when the river is used as way of transporting cargo. And even then they are NOT open all night long (shame on me - I can not remember an exact schedule). And another thing about SpB bridges foreign tourists seem to enjoy this tradition, especially during the white nights period.
As I said before - nothing personal. Simply I think that when someone writes about “exact translation” they should be more careful with words and facts.
Good luck to your project, hope my message will be noticed somehow.
–
Nadia.
I have a question:
I used to check this site every night for fun news, and i really enjoyed my time. However, i’ve been having certain problems lately. It seems that no computer in Colombia can open englishrussia.com, all it shows is “server not found”, however, a canadian friends tells me he can do it. Today i was lucky (there are some lucky evenings), but most of the week i cant. Why is this happening?
привет всем!сайт очень классный несмотря на то что здесь очень много долбаёбов
in my opinion it’s much better than most “funny” sites on the Internet, because it has also serious educative articles on Russia. So, it’s much more objective than typical “fun” sites. I wonder why so many Russian commentators demand even more objectivity?
I also think that it doesn’t have to be taken so seriously. It’s not trying to create a fake image of Russia, it’s just showing the funny side of it. Are you trying to prove that there is nothing funny in Russia? There is something funny in every country, this site just shows the funny sides of Russia. Yes, there are sites also for funny sides of other countries and there people usually don’t take it that seriously.
By the way, some commentators here have already called the authors of the site fascists. It’s a phenomen found only in Russia - the word “fascist” has lost practically all its historical meaning and is being widely used just as an insult. Isn’t it so?
Anyway, it seems that also some Western commentators have not caught the point of it. If they think that all Russia is like that, then it’s not a problem of this site, but they have still misunderstood everything.
And also - other countries in the ex-USSR. The authors have explained quite well that they’re different from Russia, but some people just don’t seem to get it and talk about “Soviet people”. Somebody said even here that he loved “the Eastern European culture”. Sorry, there is no such thing, as there is no “Western European culture”.
Out of 14 ex-USSR countries (excepting Russia) only two have a language related to Russian (Ukraine and Belarus). As for the others, for example, the Estonian language is closely related to Finnish, the Moldavian language is close to Romanian, but also Italian, French and Spanish. The Azerbaijan language is related to Turkish and Georgian has no known relatives, although there are theories that it can be related to the Basque language. These countries have very little in common. As for the Russian minority there, it immigrated mostly after WW2. The languages were an example, I won’t talk about differences in culture, religion, society, politics, history etc., but PLEASE, please don’t mix us up with Russia. Thank you
tn, Estonia
Making business with Estonia you support and finance Nazis.
You should understand, that making business with Estonia or buying anything produced in Estonia or visiting Estonia as a tourist, you actually support and finance a new generation of European Nazis. Please, spend a couple of minutes to read the letter to the end, because your voice of a free human is very important in preventing the revival of Fascism in the Europe.
Estonia, which has recently joined to EU and NATO, officially practices Apartheid policies and does its best to rehabilitate and legalize Fascism, for years. EU, US and other democracies preferred not to pay attention on that till now. However, it doesn’t cancel the fact that Estonia carries out a policy of Ethnic Discrimination against ethnic Russians, who constitute a third part of its population. Most of these people were born in this country or live here for 30-40 years, but they were not even provided citizenship and are treated as second class people. Moreover, Estonia officially glorifies legionaries of Hitler’s SS troops that exterminated Jews in Fascist death camps in Estonia during the Holocaust. Government sets up monuments to these Fascist butchers. They are allowed to march in the downtown of the capital, Tallinn. They are invited to official events; the Estonian President shakes their bloody hands, and calls them heroes of Estonia.
At the same time, Estonian government aggressively fights with any memories of millions of the Soviet soldiers, who paid with their lives to free Europe from the plague of the Fascism and to save dozens millions of Europeans of the death. And democratic countries - first of all EU and US, prefer to dissemble this again. But recently Estonian regime overstepped the limits, which makes it absolutely illegal from the point of view of common human values. On April 26, Estonian authorities have decided to finally erase the memory of the victory of Russian soldiers over the Hitler’s Nazism by destroying the main World War II memorial to a Soviet warrior-rescuer, Bronze Soldier. For those Russians who live in Estonia, demolition of the memorial is not just a removal of some architectonic construction. This is the most painful insult of the memories of their fathers and grandfathers, who died in battle with the Fascism to bring freedom to the Europe.
Thousands of offended Estonian Russians came to a peaceful protest demonstration, demanding from Estonian officials to stop the vandalism. But instead dialogue Estonian authorities sent special police forces to suppress the protest. With no reason they started to fire in the protesters rubber bullets, water cannon and tear-gas, throw flash-bang grenades, and baton women and teenagers. During the massacre the first ethnic Russian was killed, dozens were injured and hundreds were arrested just because of their Russian ethnicity. Those arrested were thrown into in a harbor warehouse as they were livestock, and there they were beat by police within an inch of their life. Just think - in the heart of the Europe an Apartheid regime kills, injures and arrests hundreds people just because of their ethnicity! However, almost all of the European and American media keep hypocritical silence or even worse call this “pacifying gangs of drung vandals”.
This is disgrace! This is shame not only on those European and US governments that support this Nazi state. This is shame on every European and American who keeps silence today. Keeps silence, because somewhere inside he or she is confident that rehabilitation of Fascism, and Apartheid crimes committed against those “dirty Russian” at the heart of the European Union, provide “useful lesson” to Russians and Russia. But maybe you think that this is not your business? Then let me remind you a famous phrase by German priest Martin Niemoller he said about Nazis in 1945: “First they came for the Jews, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew…. Then they came for me and by that time there was no one left who can speak up for me”. Today, new European Nazis came for the Russians, and the Europeans keep silence or, better to say, silently approve. Well, you can be sure - this is just the beginning, and some day yours home-grown Nazis, inspired by your silence of the crimes of the Estonian Fascism, will come for you. And there will be no one to speak up for you. Because Russians, once rescued the Europe from the Fascism, will never pay again with millions of their lives for those not speaking up today.
So what can you do? Not too much. But quite enough to stop Nazis. At least don’t finance them. Don’t buy anything produced from Estonia. Don’t do any kind of business with Estonian companies and organizations. Don’t invest in Estonian stocks. Don’t fly to Estonia as a tourist. What else? Maybe, to ask your representative in the House of Representatives, why your government spends your taxes to support Estonian Nazis? Or to forward this letter to your local newspaper and ask them, why they never write about Apartheid in Estonia? Or to call to Estonian embassy in your country, and ask them what is that they think they are doing? Or at least forward this letter to a few friends and colleagues? Your voice CAN prevent revival of Nazism, if you want it
wow! this was long!
you just missed the section, it would have to go into the main posts section as an example of modern day russkies brainwashing.

I love this site- it’s fantastic!
To all of the detractors, think about this: This is just a compiliation of submissions made by your fellow countryman; the webmaster doesn’t go around the former bloc and take these pictures and video. So, there must be some sort of connection with what Westerners and Eaterners find funny.
I toured Russia and the Ukraine last year for school, and I found there to be much more than what is presented on this page, but coming back and reading this page makes me remember the fun time that I had, as well as the hospitality of the people that I met.
Oh, and for those who are still concerned about a “western plot” to portray Russia in a negative light, go to YouTube or Google “rednecks”. The thing that one should be concerned about is the fact that we have very low standards as to what we find humorous.
The site has really fake things, the majority are copied of Russian comedy blog sites which are photoshop experts.
http://englishrussia.com/?p=254#more-254 (this is a photoshop image, but englishrussia.com mentions it as a promotion tactic.
http://englishrussia.com/?p=759#more-759 (this is also fake, done by vandals)
This site does not give true historical facts. By about the “bronze soldier” for example you can see the biast information this site gives.
John Mulla you are a fake! If you never been to Russia then shut up and stay quiet.

Ive been to Russia and stayed for months…it was kick ass. You guys have a great deep history and strong culture — you should be proud. Heck…IM PROUD OF YOU and IM AMERICAN!
Three Cheers for Russia!

I have really mixed feelings! OKA is great fun))) I laughed! And liked it! And some ideas are in use now! We have so many OKA-taxi! And the hole site is great!!! Some things from USSR are wild and curious for me because I was too small that time. Very interesting but not good to make people think that the things that took place 50 years ago are in use now! But let you know something about Russia even that way! Maybe you have bad marks at school? A lot of foreigners that I asked about Russia in different countries can say only: “It’s very cold there!” So why Russians that seem to you so ridiculous, know about you and your countries much more?
Of course I clearly understand that here are lots of people that hate Russia! Do you feel all that proud in words “Summer Olympics in Moscow, ignored by USA team”?
This site is really good and funny but the people soiled it! And the reason is 1/6 of the world sounds great! You are full of dread! So you try to disgrace Russia to feel a little bit impressive! I’m sorry for you! You are really poor because people that can’t respect other nations can be only poor!!!
Today is the launch of the world’s first ever dual-language “Blog-Carnival Russian media”. All English-speaking and German-speaking bloggers are invited to publish contributions on the Russian media on their weblogs between 1 and 30 June 2007 (see more http://www.krusenstern.ch/p716.html).
The aim of the Blog-Carnival is to gather together as many different viewpoints and pieces of information as possible on the subject of the Russian media. Behind this initiative is the notion that the closer we get to the Russian parliamentary elections in October 2007 and the presidential elections in March 2008, the more the Putin government is clamping down on the media in Russia.
This Blog-Carnival is an opportunity for bloggers of both East and West to learn about the media that appear in the Russian Federation or report on it from abroad. The Blog Carnival will therefore bring the contributing bloggers new information, new contacts and a stronger network transcending national borders and language barriers (see more http://www.krusenstern.ch/p716.html)
Poka, poka!
Hmm, it seems that the only people who like this web site are either non russians and/or former russians who now consider another country, but not Russia, their home. The russians hate it. I will humbly try to provide an explanation to this phenomena…
You see, one russian poet - who is more to russians than the writer of “much ado about nothing” to english (speaking) people - once said: “I hate my country but I feel angry when a foreigner says the same.” Of course, one can say: be easy, be cool, we make fun from our red-necks. This is what democracy is all about!…
Well, my friends, the thing is - RUSSIA IS NOT US/GB/ETC
Let me say this again. It is not. Why is it important to remember? Well, maybe so you will not think that people from Russia should behave like you do, on certain issues? In Russia there is a saying - each monastery has its own rules.
Say, in US it is ok to make fun of the President. And in Thailand, not only it is not legal, but get this!, it is a personal offence to people if one makes funny remarks about their king. What a bunch of nerds, hey? One should go there and tell them to be cool about it and learn how to joke about their king with a foreigner…
Well, I’m russian, I live in Russia and I like this site.
I’ve encountered this site just by chance, bacause I was _intentionally_ digging into russian-western relation, trying to explain to myself what’s wrong. Not much other native russians are have such a chance, bacause
1. Language problem.
2. They are not interested of what ordinary americans do think about us.
“I hate my country but I feel angry when a foreigner says the same.” + 100 !
great summary of my feelings about this.
i especially like the ‘anti-spam’ words: Lenin, Moscow … wow, what a range of thought. is this the best you can do?
It’s time you get over it. Act, take away the potential grounds for critisism instead of sitting on your ass and getting upset about something this abstract. Being Russian is NOT an accomplishment, you know. You just happen to be born there.
I’m russian and I do NOT hate it when other people say nasty things about Russia. I only hate it when they are telling lies. But too often, sadly, they are telling facts.
Russia is clearly a mess in many aspects and that is partly due to the fact that Russians are too busy defending their pride and lack any form of introspection - look at the state the country is in. No infrastructure - the level is that of Sierra Leone. Look at who is pulling the strings in Russia. It’s a true banana republic. And gets away with it. Russians seem to be so numbed after 1000 years over slavery that they NEED the outside view too get a fresh look on their country. And then make someting out of it ! And create prosperity for all !
If you are really Russian which I doubt, you should know that the soviet system was turned bankrupt by Reagan and his financial councellor discovering how the system financed itself and with the help of the Saudis who lowered the price of oil for two years at an all time low knowing it was the main export for Russia, this is why Putin is trying to save what is left of the resources and sent Kodokorsky to jail to prevent him from selling the shares of lukos abroad, US want every company to be listed on the stock market so that they can take control, ever heard of Cheney Halliburton, the Rockefellers or George Sorros and all those predators?
Fascinating. Do you have any links for this information?
JohnKansasNowhere do not know how to use google maybe, try “Bush Crime Family Tree” in google.————-THIS SITE MAY CONTAIN VULGARITY AND SICK NONSENSE =============PARENTAL GUIDANCE IS ADVISED————-Run from Pennsylvania, with funds from US-Aid, the NED (national Endowment for democracy) and a Sorros fundation, it is a typical Anti-Russian, uneducated Americans superior know everything better type propaganda site————–This is why most Countries of the world, including Russia, China, the EuropeanUnion and India amassed 440 billions to recently save the warmonger bankruptcy of the dollar and USA economy. Read the financial columns sometime
Moderator, can you tell me why I can’t register on the English Russia Forum?
When I click to “Register” - all I get, is plain white screen with the word “done”.
Don’ t you get it?
“Done” means, well, done. You are done, it is.
So, preved, BALDY FAG!!!
When I was in Russia a few years ago I heard a beautiful song called “Sinii Platochek” or The Blue Kerchief. It’s and old WW2 song but it was sung by a relatively new pop artist ( last 10 years or so ) Anyone know who it is or where I can find a copy? Thanks!
This is clearly an anti-Russian blog that is created with a single purpose to create a negative and disgusting image of all Russian speaking people and countries in the world.
Support Jews against Zionism and American imperialism!

Thanks Chaim, I totally agree. It good to see that TRUE JEWS still exist who are not sucked into this Zionist “dream”. I will certanlly spread the word.
Yes, it is good, that TRUE JEWS still exist, like Boris here, who are speaking Russian, have learned Communism and do know what a great place USSR was! Not those goddamn Zionists!
Yes, Boris, you go ahead and spread it! The word or whatever else is that you are spreading around you…
Ah, there is one of them
So, would you care to debate the whole Zionist idea with me “in English”?
No.

Funny website! From what I’ve seen so far, it’s great! Only, I think I was attacked by a pop-up advertisement! And a mark was left on my body! Maybe it was from another website though, I have about 6 IE windows open and it was an IE (Internet Explorer) popup.

Thanks for the informative entertainment! Keep up the Good work!
I can relate to how russian people feel about this site which is very well put together.
As a Canadian and a Newfoundlander I enjoy the humor but do not take the jokes as a personal insult.
I’ve only met a few Jewish people and they were okay to me so whats the fuss all about?
I don’t care what you think about or how you look or even what religion you are if you buy me a beer then your okay to me.

Someone please invite me to Russia, maybe on a business visa, because I see all these places and people in Russia and it reminds me of the vast opportunities for the middle class and lower class which existed in post WW2 America. The resources, the drive, the dreams, all of it is very similar. America used to look like this. China used to look like this. Abandoned cities, empty buildings, hopeless people, and more, many other countries have experienced these things. I’d love to come and work directly with the people in Russia to increase tourism, make good public use of these empty places, and bring in the economies of a Social Democracy.
Putin! Invite me! I will come. I’m an inventor, a writer, and a software engineer. I have a lot that I could bring, but my tiny self could do little without enlisting the aid of others. My efforts would focus on demonstrating to the western world that tourism and trade in Russia is safe, fun, and profits can be made without destroying people or the environment.

The first war in Chechnya was over, a certain AlexLebed negociated with the rebels (the real ones) and stopped it.———–Then later when Putin took power, a considerabley new amount of rebels appeared, more rebels than the original population of Chechnya, impossible, where were they all coming from? trained in Pakistan with new guns, USA controlled everything in that country with their friend Musharraf, strange??? Putin had no choice but to start the second war, By now Musharraf do not agree on everything so they want to replace him with Bhutto maybe arranging a tricked election like the Orange or the Roses “so democratic” revolution in ex-soviet countries
I lived in West Berlin from 1970-1974. The only way to drive my automobile to the West was to go through a Soviet checkpoint, get papers signed, and drive without stopping to West Germany. The checkpoint was a place to interact with Russians/Soviets because they had to walk around your automobile and inspect it before letting you pass. Often the American soldiers would exchange “gifts” with the Russian/Soviet soldiers. The signal was, if the Russian/Soviet pointed to his belt, he wanted to trade that belt for whatever the American had placed on the Automobile’s dashboard. The Russians always loved a carton of cigarettes or a Playboy magazine. Americans traded cigarettes or magazines for “hammer and sickle” belt buckles or hats. We always smiled at each other and in general the Russian/Soviet soldiers and American soldiers liked each other. The assholes of the world were those East German soldiers. They were not friendly, mean, and we hated them.
C.V, thanks for such a fascinating and insightful picutre that you have painted here for us. I especially like the idea of russian and american soldiers being friends against all the odds of the Cold War propaganda
Intriguing recollection. I was a high school student in Germany in 1966 and went through Checkpoint Charlie to East Berlin for an afternoon. The economic difference was remarkable, but there may have been Communist political reasons for that; they naturally hated the Germans for the WWII devastations. I spoke with a heavily armed East German guard, a very rigid young man, as to why the wall and he were there, and he promptly replied, “To keep out the corrupt Western influences….”

I think the people liking this kind of sites are psychisch ill. They like to see/find/provoke neighborhours disgrace because they themselves feel inferior in some way. Most probably are either with inferior level of education, or with some degree but with not enough intelligence to really develop themselves. Also some immigrants mostly form former USSR try this way to compensate the humiliation they are going through, a kind of Stockolm syndrom. Russia is a good object for attacks of such individuals because of its general greatness, so they try to use its momentan weakness to make themselves kind of looking good,a poor strategy in the long run through. I would recommend to this people rather to continue grouping themselves in such addiction groups to go to a good psychologist to overcome their complexes, because there is really a big danger that such illness could develop into a depression or other psychological problems.
For those negating this fact, trying to justify such a behavior arguing that this is “information”: No, it is not information, it is disinformation and even worse it becomes slowly a virtual world for some who prefer being telled highly biased half-truths outside context and mixing countries in order to build a specific false image of some place, than knowing the truth, wich most probably will not support the progress of their illness. For those at this stage is already a very serious psychological problem that should be treated.
This site represents only one tiny part of the Russian speaking world, parts that one could never see if they never lived there. A country is more than pretty travel guides, or architecture or food. It’s the little things that most of the time go unobserved or unnoticed. But I do think that one problem of this site is that it seems to be one sided. It focuses on all of these “negative” things, to laugh at them. I think that those of us who still enjoy the site do so because we recognize that there is more to Russia than this. At the same time, if I were a Russian perusing this site, I’d be hoping for more balance. I might feel offended, too. And yet, I am finding this site to be very enjoyable, a window to another world that many of us would love to experience, but we can’t. This is why I am enjoying this site so much, but I respect why you feel offended by it. I’m sure if you could come to the U.S., you would find many things to laugh at, too! There is no shortage.
I wonder if Russian humor and open discussion is a different concept than people have in Western countries. I thought the information was great, architecture, history, days in the lives of everyday people, incredible photos and humor. You get to see all sides. You might find Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert interesting. They have “spoof” (satire) tv shows in the U.S. They discuss current affairs while making fun of all sorts of ridiculous things in the U.S. Americans think they are hysterical and offer an insightful point of view. Definitely not offended by it. Maybe it’s just a matter of different cultures taking different things seriously. An American wouldn’t see a website like this, about America, as degrading, just funny and interesting. Different perspective, I guess.
Found your site from http://www.darkroastedblend.com, it was very interesting to know your country, I’m indonesian, and much of your problems and lifestyle is common with us indonesian, feel happy to know u guys..
I like your site. A young female exchange student from Omsk stayed with my family for a year and forever changed my ideas aboue Russia. I live in Oklahoma, one of the American states laughed at constantly for stupidity, drunkenness, and being not very sophisticated. I grew up during the cold war so your site is very interesting as I can see much of what is just another group of people as diverse as my own.
It is a shame that your site also attracts so many boorish and rude posters. It is easy to see that all countries have a lower class of people with internet access.
I love to read anything from Russia and I am portuguese, borne in Lisbon but now I am staying in Brasil for the last five years and used to live in Canada for 32 years.Comrade in Russia and in portuguese is Camarada very close. The big number od Russians in Baltic states don’t make these countries Russian. It’s not their fault that the most stupid Russians were sent to LV, EST who during 50 years were not able to learn the language of the country they live. All they can do is to dream about their Motherland where they belong. Only I guess the Motherland doesn’t want them back! So bad, would be easier to breath in Baltics without Russians!

That was an attempt to turn a piece of Europe into a piece of Russia, using masses of Soviet indoctrinated Russian speaking colonists. An attempt that almost succeeded. Almost.
Es pati, fuck you stupid little piece of shit. American bitch.
There was a fascinating article in the American “Popular Science” magazine of 1994 by Mariette Dichristina entitled “250 years of Russian Science and Technology” illustrated with photos describing inventors and their work (37 in all) from 1742 passing by the Mendeleyev periodic table to the Russian emigres to the United States contribution like Struve in the stars chemical makeup, Sikorsky with the development of the Helicopter, Zworykin’s ionoscope early TV system, also the first cooperative US-Soviet space mission, and the first supersonic passenger plane (Tu-144) which flew two months before the Concorde.
this website is full of lies, it’s all propaganda, and I wish the owner would at least put the disclaimer that it might be a joke, or that it might false, or a photoshop, half of the content isn’t even from russia, and a lot of it is photo shopped
what if I made a site called “russianamerica” and posted stuff from the middle of alabama with some broken down barn? or posted pictures of ghetto slums in bronx, L.A or elsewhere? am I supposed to say “THIS IS AMERICA”?
I hate this website until it has a disclaimer
Well when “RussianAmerica” comes online, let me know because I will find that stuff rip-roaringly funny.
There’s nothing wrong with a little self-deprecation and while this site is full of it, I wouldn’t say they’ve gone overboard. And besides, are you going to tell me that SNL isn’t chock full ‘o comparable material regarding life in the States? Please.
Lighten up and laugh

Russia better, than you think
Is usually modern country with pretty friendly peoples! Certainly, there is poor, but with each year the country becomes better. People more confidently look into tomorrow =)
I have only read the first couple of comments an I decided to post my comment without reading further. For the Russian people reading this site. Do not feel ashamed if photos are published that seem to portray Russians as drunks etc… The whole world have drunks and all of our shit stink the same. I find russia and its people very interesting. There are very beautiful places and interesting people. So please do not sensor what is posted here. You have been isolated from the rest of the world by that silly communist system for so long. Don’t do it yourselves now.
Honey, I don’t think they’re trying to isolate themselves. What these Russian guys are asking for is more accurate portrayal, you know? Clearly, Russia isn’t only Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, and onion domes — but neither it is all drunks and stupid commercials and Evil Kremlin of World Doom (TM).
I enjoy this site, however, as of today, I keep getting a Trojan virus infection warning and some file KB908xx.EXE keeps trying to load on my hard drive. Would your IT group please fix the problem
First!
Hey dude,
i really love your site, well done!!
greets from Italy, martino
Hey, I think this site is fantastic; it’s always great to read about other cultures - regardless of how much or how little of the population they represent.
It’s quite sad that so many people on here cling to generalisations and stereotypes. If you don’t like the site, then don’t visit it.
Just stop with the silly, ignorant my-country-is-better-than-yours nationalism.
Too many Westerners (Americans) assume that every Russian is evil and ideologically analogous to Prime Minister Putin. Conversely, too many Russians wrongly assume that every American is a McDonald’s-eating, Coca Cola-drinking, Bush-voting moron.
Whilst these stereotypes may apply to some people within the countries to which they are referring, it is very naïve and small-minded to perpetuate the idea that the societies in question are intrinsically homogeneous.
Thank you very much for creating this website. I love seeing the little differences between our countries, as well as the big, funny ones. I wish there was a website like this for every country!

Can someone please translate into English for me the writing on a medal? I can send you a jpg picture. Need this before Monday morning.
Help, and thanks. freedesk2002 AT yahoo DOT com.
I have loved you site from the day that I found it. But the Abandoned Cars is not working. I have tryed it for the past 2 days and nothing but the first photo will show up. Can you fix it?
I was there. Russia is a piece of shit. No western person could live in it. Especially outside of Moscow and St. Petersurg.
The nice part of the country is what the people haven’t managed to screw up - a nature.
People’s mentality is probably the worst over there. Soviet - nationalist - feudalism - ignorant - complex kind.
Corruption is the world’s first class.
And they don’t distinguish fear from respect. Now they think world “respect” them more. Idiots.
I love this site!!! Thank You.
They are pretty no? Spasibo!
Russians may come to my country and stay in my home anytime!!!
We cook the meals and drink the vodka together sometimes!
And chase the girls too
i am an american who finds this website fascinating,i have always wanted to visit russia and the photos and stories are as close as i will ever get. thanks to all the contributors
Awesome site!
It takes us into the real lifestyle of the russians, and of the soviet era.
Definitely, mi favourite spot on the net!
Thank you very much, you make my day a better day
!
Juan Pablo from Chile.
I’m sorry for those people who think they now know what post-soviet countries really are.
This site does’t show the reality, only some aspects (mostly just stupid ones) - so if you come here one day -you will be quite dissapointed not to see drunken fools, soviet dressed women, broken traktors ans parades on every spot)))
I personally don’t deny that my country has a lot of problems, but you show only everything negative, why don’t you show something beautiful and positively fascinating - we have plenty of that too.
It isn’t all negative, at least not a way you think it is. Instead of that, most foreign visitors see through those pictures and situations, and realize that all same things has or could happen in their country too. There is problems everywhere, in every country and it shows courage to admit it openly. I live in Finland and if someone would do website like this about us, I think that it couldn’t be as amusing and amazing like this is, because we are too ordinary people. Our cities are gray, our clothes are gray, our cars are gray, our faces are gray etc. and how funny is that? Not funny at all. You should thank these guys about the work what they have done, because they have shot down all myths and mysticism about Russia and Russian people. Now everyone knows that you are normal people who gets drunk in weddings, who love to party, who love their children’s and live like we all do in our countries.
FYI - I posted this here because the contact form wasn’t working for me.

Hey guys (and gals?)
I really enjoy your site, I’ve been checking for a few years now. I run a site called http://www.ourcommonexperience.org. The idea is to share an article about your life or culture so people from different places can get an idea what it’s like. Basically it’s just a bunch of condensed englishrussia.com’s from all over the place.
I wondered if anyone from your site would be willing to write an article about their day or a tradition or anything else about Russia. You can contact me through email or through the site.
Thanks, and again - I really enjoy your site!

You guys fucking rules! The best site on the net!!!! thnx!!!!
Danny, Sweden!
I have to admit that I have fall in love to your web site, I visit here just about every day, and I appreciate work you have done very much. After looking these pages my point of view about Russia and Russians has changed, and in positive direction. I find them very sympathetic and it seem to me that they are just like anybody else, fun loving people living their life day by day trying make their best in those chancing circumstances. Thank you, guys and girls, you are doing good work…
I have always been fascinated with Russia. I remember when I was younger, during the cold war, I always wondered why our countries hated each other. I would see pictures of people that looked no different. Now that im older I understand the politics much better, but im glad that someday I will be able to visit your country!
Thank you for the awesome pictures!
Love this site. It is hilariously funny and shows what a true shithole Russia has become. I’m a Brit living in the US and frankly, I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Plenty of food, excellent housing and plenty of habitable land. Even with the economic crunch, it’s still better than Russia. No western person would want to live in such poverty and filth over there anyway. I have been to Russia and it is one of the nastiest countries I have ever visited next to some in Africa and SE Asia. Moscow barely qualifies as 2nd world. Not only that but it is living proof that most everyone from Russia is/was brainwashed into believing their country is superior, has more culture, is more scientifically advanced, or won the second world war by themselves (you did NOT - If it wasn’t for the resurgence of the US and UK, Russia would still be New Germany you wanks). Russia is not special. You are not better than anyone else on this planet. This website proves it. You are just regular ass people who get drunk, do stupid shit and run your mouths. Whenever you want to step out from behind the iron curtain for good, ditch your throwback communist/nationalist values and join the real fucking world, we’ll be ready. Until then, keep your shithole country to yourselves, because we aren’t buying what you’re selling.
It really is a shame and disgrace that the USA, also such people as lol live in our country.
Remember that Russia, and USA are both great countries to be proud of and live in.
Personally I would love to stay in Russia a while. I like to
get to know other people from the view of daily life.
I grew up in the North east of the US which had many people of russian and east Europe descent. I always liked the culture and even studied the language for two years in high school.
Now being single again I would be interestd in corresponding with someone who would be interested in writing and hopefully filling my dream of visiting countries in the federation.
Anyone wishing to write can email me at medman3401@yahoo.com.
I have read englishrussia website for several years and always enjoy its content about general life.
Thanks for hearing me

Oh, I love this site! I absolutely love the Russian wooden houses. SO beautiful. All the art in general. It is so sad that politics and wars can destroy these beautiful things…
Guys! (Gals? Both?)
Thanks for the great site! Especially the landscapes, abandoned places & glimpses into the old Soviet Union.
I was directed here from alink in another forum I visit and have spent the last week reading every post all the way to the first. Great stuff!!!

First comment, long time fan. Thanks for this site. I was in the US Air Force and experienced the “cold war”. Instead, I should have been able to see and know the russian peoples as this site shows. The good, bad, funny and sad, just like life anywhere. You are teaching the world in a way that did not exist 20 years ago. Thanks again.
This comment page looks sort like a war!
I’ve found this site recently and let me say that what was supposed to be funny indeed was very funny. But indeed the revolted Russians are right: unfortunatelly the more “serious” material seemed very offensive.
I strongly believe that we, foreigners, are not able to fully understand Russia unless we experience it. This is true to all countries in the earth.
To the site organizators: if you want to make fun of Russia go ahead, but plesa show a little more sensibility and respect; Russia is a great country and Russians are great people - they deserve it.
> Georgia bombed the capital of South Ossetia FIRST killing 4,000 people
Typical brainwashed ruSSian.
Civilian casualties:
South Ossetian and Russian officials confirm identities and circumstances of death of 365 victims were collected. [30][31][32] During the conflict, number of deceased victims was initially claimed to be much higher, at 1,492 civilians. These numbers were disputed by Human Rights Watch, Memorial and the Georgian side[33][34]. Human Rights Watch believes Russian and South Ossetian figure of 300-400 civilians is a “useful starting point”.
I’m here for the first time and had a short look on it - looks interesting on first view and it’s possible that I may come back, since I’m a bit “russia-phil” in some sense.
After my first views to some articles on this site I was interested in who is behind all that. But the about page doesn’t give me any answer about this!
It says what I can find here but not who is behind all these articles!
Because of this I can understand some postings of russian people in this forum who feel offended by some of the articles and feel like being on an american anti-russia web-site here.
I do not feel this way (ok, I also took to little time to get a deeper look to the site) - but as long as I do not know who is responsible for it I feel that this kind of feeling is understandable.
Best wishes
from ‘from’, Berlin/Germany
Why don;t you people just enjoy the website, and thank that someone took their time to put it together.

This site has some great photos from time to time, but definitely spreads mis-information. Just read some of the commentary in photos about soviet life - half the stuff is made up.
Here’s a suggestion: just post photos, stop talking and disable comments. Your site will be 100 times better.
Regardless of where you go, there is good and bad. Such a vast and diversified country as Russia is not immune to this. ( After all, it was populated by man! )
Hey, I love the site, I’m Hungarian, so relatively close to you guys. Keep it up! Peace!
Im not saying that everything on this site is completely fake, yes, some things posted here do portray real life, but, unfortunately, concentrate on the more negative and debasing aspects of it, that we would like to change. I can’t agree, however, that this site is all about “just humour”. Yes, it’s okay to laugh at ourselves, and russians don’t mind it( check out the show called “Nasha Russia”) However, it kind of goes into a whole different level when one culture scoffs at another by pointing out to the negative aspects of it. Just for analogy, it’s okay when black people refer to each other as “niggas”, but it would be totally wrong if a white person called someone black a “nigger”. See what I mean? It’s just WRONG, especially when the pictures have headings the general meaning of which is something like “this is what russians are all about”.. Just put yourselves into our shoes, Im sure you wouldn’t want to see Russians or any other nation mocking your native culture by looking at pictures of obese people eating Mcdonalds, or gay parades, or hobos etc. Plus a country like Russia is pretty much an easy target nowadays, and portrayig it from such an angle doesn’t really contribute to it beoming a better country that is more open to the western world. However I am pleased by the fact that they actually started adding some nice photographs that depict Russia from a more positive, or at least neutral side). It is an interesting site tho, despite all the exagerration and mis-information.
I agree with you. My main interest in this site is to look at the beautiful landscapes of Russia; not to mention the old churches and wooden houses, and their histories. Of course, it is very easy to look at other aspects of Russia as shown on this site. I do not think they represent the majority of Russian life. Someone happened to be there, and took a picture because it was “spectacular”. Kind of the way the press and TV report the news; the worse the news the better they seem to like it!
Was ist das?
I love it. I stumbled upon your site, and I have spent hours browsing your archives.
It’s fascinating.
Thank you English Russia for all of your work and fascinating posts! I’m glad to see so many historical photos in particular - please keep up the good work and thanks again!
Please use the spellchecker. It’s Ok if the wording is a little “runglish”. But there are so many really common spelling mistakes, it’s embarrassing for a site like this.

and many many more.
Awesome blog!
Trotsky was killed in Mexico City, with an ice-pick. Or was the London-hammer thing a joke?
Hahahaha, this webpage is truly a masterpiece. I am Russian, and I often make a good laugh out of pics posted on Russian blogs. But the idiots I see on these photos… damn, they’re winning the cup. And there are really a lot of strange things all around here, I mean Russia, so if you don’t laugh you’ll just go crazy.
Good blog, but you need more interesting things like landscapes, cities, abandoned places etc.. and less stupid stuff like drunk hobos, bad roads and cars falling in giant potholes. That sort of stuff is funny once in a while, but it gets stale when every second post is about some Russian stereotype.
such a great website!!
one of the best in the world!!
wonderful sense of humor!!
so very interesting!!
so great!!
thank you!!!!!
Hi, John from Florida,U.S.A.,
I find these pictures FASCINATING. I would love to visit Russia and see these places.
The tractor factory or Zoya’s home town.
The underground submarine base, or ANY space museum.
Again, I like these pictues, they show an interesting side of Russia,
You owe me a few hundred dollars for the time I should have been working but couldn’t stop looking at this amazing cross-section of Russian culture. Hah! I loved it, keep up the good work!!
More posts!!!! this sight is amazing!!! You mean to tell me there are complete whole abandoned cities in the former CCCP states?!?!?!? What a trip!!!! More ghost towns!

i love this site. it’s fantastic. it makes me want to go to russia. i find it kinda funny that some people from russia think it’s so negative and insulting. i think this stuff is incredibly interesting. some of it’s screwed up but whose country isn’t? i’m an american and i could point at so much to make fun of here but also so many amazing things. like the pictures of winter are AWESOME. i’m not being sarcastic. i just think it’s so fantastic that one (huge) country can be so fascinating. i wish the russians who think this is so insulting would lighten up. this site, as shitty as you think it is, makes me want to go there because what i see is incredibly interesting. some of this stuff is freaking hilarious but loads of it is history and art too. it doesn’t make me think russia’s shitty, just like i’d hope you don’t think america is full of fat, lazy loudmouths from watching our crap tv.
Its a good site, It shows the bittersweet humor of Russians quite well and shows off their wit and intellegence. Its an intresting warming site.
(And as for those idiots harping on about a country they have never lived in telling russians about communist Russia, get a grip!
Unless you have all the facts infront of you and can back up all you say, you know little to nothing. First hand witnesses are the most valuble form of history, newspapers have political/business bias and public opinions mean nothing to an intelligent person because they have no reference!)
You guys run a terrific site! I like it!
Your new fan from Malaysia,
Pepper Lim
This site is a useful resource very informative for
people who want to know more about Russia..
Hello,
I enjoy surfing on your site. However, it appears that there is a group of people who tend to post negative, sometimes offensive or irritating comments almost on every posted theme. One of the users is hiding under this nick name “Miss India”. Is there any way we can block off or just simply report offensive or discriminating comments back to the site’s admin.
Cheers,
M.
Ужасный сайт…
А вообще забавно, что два самых активных пользователя, владеющие русским языком, живут вовсе не в России, а главное - их обоих зовут Борисами. Ха-ха, это же просто как в анекдоте. Так, хм, стереотипно lol
Comrades, this site can’t fully show u the real life in Russia… Firstly i whant to excuse for my english, because i have no practice for 4 years… So, if u realy believe that we just drink vodka (i like this one), and aim our rockets at your native country - you wrong… I realy think that every people are same.. except jew’s… so if you are stupid you can continue this f*king discussion, but it have no real base…)))
I like u all… with love from Russian’s army, the Engineers, officer Alexey! =)
People had said this site is negative on russia, I digress on that point. Whenever I read posts I really want to go to russia, you people are COOL! I mean really, cooking sausages with city electricity? Because of this site I decided to learn Russian, even.
Keep on Rocking, Englishrussia.com!
The pictures of the architecture and other aspects of Russia are amazing. If possible, please include a link to the geographic location of these areas in maps.google.com or something similar. I always enjoy looking around at the surrounding area to see what else is there. Thanks.
Can i just say that we- people from afar do not dislike the rusiians one bit- infact i think they quite the opposite- just because you do drink Vodka (a national export) does not mean it a bad thing- i dont generally drink vodka- cos its so strong, but i do like it here and there!!! you should be pround of it- and if you want to drink it, then drink it, i wont bother you for it- what you may find however is that other people with less enjoyment for life will try to have a go at you for it, like the paki / tramp known as miss india, who is probably dying of disease!
I think there is a user who frequently visits your sit, just to spread nastiness and spite for no reason, other than her own anger at the world, I feel the site needs to possibly employ some way of moderating some of the comments left here.
I feel Miss India - Should be removed as she has no intention of appreciating your site, and therefore has no real reason for being here, other than to leave nasty and spiteful comments about Russia and its people- Unfortunately some people from other parts of the world do have this problem, and i feel it should definatley be eradicated from your site.
I personally love Russia- i feel its character could never be rivaled- and for that reason, i would like to make and offer of moderating your site- my English is perfect due to the fact that I am native English, and would love to moderate for your site!
Dude,
You’re a fake! I, an american, can tell the difference between a UK native and someone who is not. You sir, are NOT!
Sincerely, Liberty, Equality, Fraternity.
I like this web-site. I am intrested with russia and russian people. I m learning much from here so it is ok … and posts and news generally wil be bad all the time .what you expect)) and “the people who lives in a wonderland and just laugh these posts with humiliating way Leave us alone ))
It’s funny and sad at the same time)(
The main mistake this site is one-sided giving info about russia. People who really whant to get knows about Russia need to use other sources (imho). Everything has rights for live, and I wish you good luck. but don’t forget Russia is too more than fun pics in this pages.
Sorry, for my terrible english=)
Come on people, gratuitous hate really does show your ignorance. So why??
I have always been deeply interested in all aspects of the former USSR and now in the various Russian-speaking countries. For decades they had us believe that Russians were some sort of alien, scary people only looking to destroy the west (but that whole “Cold War” charade is a story for another day) What fear this caused in me as a young child! Yet it is also the reason I am still so fascinated.
Anybody with any intelligence whatsoever will just take this website for what it is - a fascinating pictorial of odd, quirky, funny, historical, sad, joyful (etc etc..) events! If anything it shows how similar people are rather than different.
As for the site’s writer - it is obvious that he or she is a native russian speaker, though their english is damn near perfect (which by the way makes this person’s humour very appealing to me and I often laugh out loud at the humourous touches)
Through the internet I have recently started learning russian and I have made friends in Russia, Ukraine etc. with whom I exchange info and pics of our daily lives which is always so interesting. I don’t know what kind of moron would assume that Russia is purely negative - this website certainly does not only depict negative images! Russia like many other countries is a diverse place of great mystery and probably unfathomable layers, and I can’t wait to see it for myself. Keep ‘em coming English Яussia…I’m addicted!
Ok, so I’ve just read a lot of comments, and… What’s wrong with you, people?
This web-site doesn’t provide you with all the correct information about Russia nowadays. It has some beautiful and interesting pictures of the Soviet Times.
But a lot of information here is false.
To understand a country, come visit it - this rule works for every country in the world.
I’ve never been in the U.S., but those Americans whom I have met were very friendly, nice and intelligent.
People talk about cooperation, peace and being tolerant. Where is all that? Don’t speak about it, do something about it. Stop abusing each other, stop taking everything for granted. Living in the world without war - is a hard work, and it’s us who should do it.
There are drunkers, bums and nacists in all the countries, don’t exaggerate, and don’t take the information on this web-site for the pure truth.
Good luck.
The written English is almost as funny as the pics!
I think this is one of the best Russian/English sites on the net, it has funny and lighter side content that no, we don’t usually see in Canada. It is nice to see that there are many aspects of Russia that I never thought exsisted. Good job, regardless of all the politically motivated comments. Then again, by reading those too I can better understand yet another side of Russia as well.
I live in Oklahoma and have just discovered this site. Please don’t think that Americans are so naive as to believe your diverse country could be summed up in a single web site any more than you should believe the stereotypical portrayals of Americans that abound, especially since our “Bush” years. We, too are a diverse people and are more than sound bites on the network news. We are as varied as any people on the face of this good earth. Let us learn from each other. Let us laugh at and with one another. Contact through e-mail someone outside of your country anywhere in the world and learn the unvarnished truth about others. We are all of us; intelligent peoples and there is more to us than ‘THEY’ will permit us to exchange.
Hope this makes it through.
My E-mail address is libequafrat@gmail.com
Sincerely, Liberty, Equality, Fraternity.
Holy God folks! It’s funny “Haha”- not funny world politics. Look ant any of the billion sites out ther( Collegehumor.com/ Break.com / Cracked.com etc…) and you will see that we post a shit ton more vids and pics of us falling down, hurting ourselves and blowing shit up all at the wrong time. We(people in general) like to laugh. I have been all over the world and one thing everyone has in common is they like to party and occasionally do dumb shit- that’s the stuff we laugh about our whole life- and why we keep going back to these places. I don’t know about you but I am gona have a beer, have a good time and hope the shenanigans don’t kill me- I suggest you do the same!
Cheers! Great site!
english russia sucks now
does someone nows how i can post picture’s here
great website…very cool posts ..interesting articles funny pics etc..keep up the good work !
REMOVE THE FUCKING NOISE ADDS, THAT SHIT IS SO FUCKING ANNOYING
awesome cold war site
I’m amazed at the number of “nationalist” boobs here that think this blog is somehow disrespectful of Russia.
It’s humorous, intriguing and really interesting. I’m an American — and of course realize that Russia isn’t just filled with bogged down trucks, bad engineering and drunken cops beating up bears.
I also enjoy web sites and blogs that show the screwed-up, funny and stereotypical bad side of America and Americans. Because it’s funny.
If anything, this blog makes me want to visit Russia MORE, not less.
Keep up the good work!
I have an idea. I am going to British Columbia, Vancouver… then to Seattle, WA. I’ll make some pics around those cities (at least) and submit the material here… hehe. Wooden streetracing spoilers from Russia will appear a freaking joke compared to drug addicts injecting themselves in a day light in the streets of North America.
Hi!
I was looking at ya’ll’s color pictures from WWII and wondered if you had any info about who all is photographed and/or where the photos were taken.
Thanks a ton!

I love this site, Russia was such an innovative country back in the days when it was the soviet union, they would take risks, these days places like america takes years to do anything. Mysterious Russia.
I am Brazilian and I like to visit this site…
and I dont see nothing of negative in what the site shows for who does not know nothing about the Russia and your costume…
today I am fascinated on Russia because of this site
and today I am learning Russian to know more about…
one day I will go to make a called site RussianBrazilian and will also show my country to… “xaxaxa!”
Russia is a wonderful and fantastic country!!!!!!
Спасибо!
I really enjoy this site because it contains photos of interesting phenomena–of people and of nature. The pictures of ice and snow are fascinating because they are so different than anything I’ve ever experienced. Abandoned mines, ghost towns, wooden skyscrapers, wild mushrooms from the forest, preserved pickles, tomatoes, and other day-to-day foods, reindeer races, shops, people going about their lives…All of it is interesting to me.
The photos trigger a range of emotions, mainly based on comedy and tragedy, which are common for all people of the earth. Some are just plain funny. Some made me sad for a long time after seeing them and thinking about them.
I don’t assume that the photos or writings on this site are representative of all of Russia–how could they be? I’m certain Russia is very complex, just given how much land mass it takes up on this planet and all the cultures and histories that are part of it.
This site makes me want to visit Russia more than ever before. Not to fulfill my own expectations of what it would be, but to experience adventure and discovery. I’ve enjoyed your work so much. Thank you.
One more thing. I really think in the “About” section, you should share who you are. I don’t know your intentions for not sharing more about yourself/ves, but it does strike me as cowardly. Whether people like your work or don’t like it, you should own it by claiming who you are.

Fuck what everyong else says. Im Russian and I love this site. I think its good when you can take the piss out of your own country. its all fun at the end of the day, but some people just take it too seriously.
This Website has increased my desires of going to Russia one day.
Thanks for everything you put into this site!
Well done site. Some photos really are unique.
We are very interested in advertising on your site. If you are interested please email me!
I think some of the content is funny, some of it offensive. I have staggered around pretty drunk in my own country. The problem is Russians, and all other nations have no ability to laugh at their quirks. i have a Russian friend who says the country needs more law and order. There is no doubt the transition from Communism to Capitalism was hard for many Russians.
P.S. For those who waish to fight past wars, you are smart enough to built a time machine?
I have several Russian friends (and even had a girlfriend from Moscow, hi Elena) and they all had the kind of humour shown on this site, it was cool.
I love this site! And we do have an american equivalent, almost, Peopleofwalmart.com. Englishrussia.com has sparked my curiosity about this region so much, I hope that russia will be my next trip. Keep up the good work. a
i like everything
Many assume a nationalistic defensive stance when anything seemingly ill is spoken about their homeland. Most of this site, to me, is harmless humor, and doesn’t paint an ugly picture of Russia at all. It captures the silly aspects of it, aspects that my own country, and many others can relate with. As an American, I understand what it is to be stereotyped and misjudged based off of constrained glimpses of the negative, but I know that only a complete fool would judge me as individual for the reprehensible fuckups my “leaders” are responsible for. Ignorant presumptions and misunderstandings will always be drawn from images such as those found on this website, (or any other for that matter) but any reasonable person will not take them to heart or establish from them some grand concept of what the country is. Russia, USA, UK, Germany, France… not one single place in the world can be whittled down culturally and understood as a single entity. We are all individuals with our own thoughts and sentiments, and anyone with half of a brain won’t think to pass judgments on a country as a whole, or write off/discriminate an entire group of people based off of some photographs. I hope to visit Russia someday so I can actually HAVE experiences of my own there.
There are a lot of disputes, but I will say what the main reason is. If you guys would publish not only negative and blackening news, but also something interesting, positive and humorous, nobody would tell you a word against. The fact is that there is only news in style of tabloid press.
Ha! I love this site and i don’t think it’s negative at all. It’s often funny as well as quite interesting, there are some amazing pictures and stuff, old pictures, pictures of the old soviet space program stuff, general life in Russia and I think it’s great. I think it’s a kind of Russian humor maybe but I like it a lot and can only imagine that for you to think this is some kind of negative propaganda site you have to be one sad, insecure moron. A site like this about my own country could only help improve its view. I’m Italian and our whole country is like a comic version of the Tragic aspects of Russian politics! Laughing at reality is healthy.
So keep up the good work EnglishRussia!
I salute your efforts comrade! :)))))
All I can say is that, russians are extremely negative, and angry people … They are so negative, and unhappy with their life, and the world. And the Russian women? No comment, lol.
some one should make a website bout your beautifull merica.. and show all the shit wholes and gettos in there.. i lived in russia and lived in stated and seen some next level shit. US is toooo overrated trust me.. everyones appseced with their freedom hiding behing drywall and fake brick screamin across the world that they are the SHIT without ever leaving US and seeing other places
The “Russian Northern Huts” page is a total disrespect to the Mongolian culture. Everyone with some knowledge on the region knows that those huts shown in this website are not Russian, but traditional Mongolian “ghers”. I would like to ask the webmaster to change the title of the page to “Mongolian Huts”. Spasiba.
Saludos.
I’m a pathetic loser.
Just a f@g!
Guys, your English is rather poor! If you tend to be an international site, having interesting information about Russia, check and correct your English first! I do like the information you have here, but your mistakes screw everything up! Probably it’s better to hire a professional, who will translate the content for you or you should find the way how to improve your own language skills. Anyway, you have to do something with it, i guess.
Kirov, stop this uncultured speech.
Webmaster and site team are faggots.
Hello and please continue your excelent work.
I am from Portugal, I DO HAVE a sense of humor and can tell the diference from joke and seriuous.
Due to some posts I find it very interesting to travel to Russia in a nearby future.
As you must know here in Portugal there is a big comunity of Ukrainians and Russians and some i Know also watch this blog reminding of how much they love their motherland.
They don’t look back in anger!
There is a very good solution to who doesn’t like this blog:
IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT, TURN BACK A GO FISHING.
I’ve always been a fan of Russia. I think this site, off course there could be negative aspects as well, but here you can find the most beautiful pictures of Russian nature and cities. Also there’s these WWII pictures etc. from history that you have very hard to find elsewhere. This site is great and it should continue.
Some here in the comments say this site says “look how bad Russia is, don’t go there”, but for me, it just boosts my interest about Russia. I’ve started to learn Russian too now as well.
I love this site. As an ex-Soviet citizen (the last 20 years in US), I can relate to a lot of memories brought by these pictures.
I love this site. As an ex-Soviet resident (the last 20 years in then US), I can relate to a lot of thing in those old photos.
Thank you and keep ut the good work.
i like it.please carry on your effort to deliver good things about russia.thanks
Dear bloggers,
If you badmouth former USSR, than have the balls to include your real name and location for face to face discussion. Otherwise, shut the phuq up. Please think before you post garbage.

to admin / owner: maybe instead you could be hosting the good old Pennsylvanian homosexual pornography - offer it to your family and friends - this will save you time as your object of sexual pleasure will be readily available to you - who knows maybe you’ll end up on set and catch some aids === see, this shit is also just humor!!
Now, on a serious note - at least take the ww2 stuff off - nazism is still at large and i see no humor in it - you allow discriminative and hateful content to appear in your forum, about the people who may have very well been murdered in that war - what the fuck kind of humor is that? You should be ashamed of yourself - but clearly you have no moral capacity for shame. As a good test of he above, you should accept a ww2 picture from me :
4 SS + 3 dead civilians + 1 name + 1 date - what would you do with that info? - report the SS or drool over you ppc convertion charts?
[...] as bridge blogs go, English Russia is a bit of a guilty pleasure. Founded in August 2006, the site describes itself as “the Eastern Entertainment Channel.” (The 300-plus comments on its about page offer [...]
If IT’S just humor - doubtful, at my expense - then You must notify the visitors in the cap site.
Oherwise it is not humor, is the cultivation of Russophobia. That’s all.
I like this site, visit it very often. Once a day, almost.
And I want to know Russia even more as I read it. Russia seems to be a wonderful place to me, and every country has its own problems. I don’t think bad of Russia because of the things this site shows.
What all these complains try to do? Hide the fact that Russia have problems as any other country? It’s foolish to try to do that, to hide the facts. Seems like censorship to me. I see Russia was on a deep censorship for a long time, people get used to it, and when the censorship was away, and all the eyes were open, many would not liked the vision.
Russians, you don’t want people to see the problems of your country? Well, solve the problems, then! Is better then hide the issues. Same thing I say to every other country in the world, including mine, of course.
I like it.
One of the most entertaining pages ever! Russia is a huge country, and all that oddness created by communist region is of course in a same scale. Big circus, you like it or not!
Btw, I’ve been there about 30 times during 80’s and 90’s, so I got some personal experience as well. It is unique, in many ways.
Without this site I may never have had the chance to see what I believe to be the most beautiful wooden houses on the planet. I Ioved the detail the craftsmen put into these work of art and would love to see more examples of this style. Your page is wonderful, keep it up!

Russia is full of wonders by all means !!!.
It’s really very beautiful photographs.
I find fantastic post every day on this site .
Keep it Up dud want to know something about Russia.
Great site! Some people with negative thoughts about this site need to improve their sense of humor. Shame on you! We russians are kind people and have a great sence of humor. Without it we didnt made such great things in history we already made. And normal people always can laught at themselves. So, wear smile on your faces, or get the fack out from here.
Only one wish to authors - less posts about drunk, poor or disabled people - this is not so funny. Those people are deserve compassion upon them, not to mock.
In other way - please more funny posts about roads, funny accidents, people stupidity - this is really actual.
Thanks! Keep a good work!
vodkins from Moscow.
