If It Was Built

soviet skyscraper 1

This building, the skyscraper with a giant Lenin statue on top was never built.

It was projected on the 3-d construction plans as you can see on the image above but was never started, and some say it’s a big pity it wasn’t.

So one guy decided to insert this Soviet skyscraper in the views of modern Moscow to see how it could look like if it was built.

something tells me that would get old fast.

    2. Imagin pulling that fucker down, - it would crash half of moscow!!

    3. Sturmovik says:

After seeing these photos I would like to retract my previous comment that they should build it and turn it into a casino. However I still believe Moscow needs a skyscraper. China has dozens of them but Russia 0. How is that?

        ?russia got 0 skyscrapers?
definition of a skyscraper is mostly known as a highrise building higher than 150 meter or 500 feet
after that in moscow are more than a dozen of skyscrapers
but with the ibc in moscow, there are getting some nice skyscrapers additionaly. and also some supertalls (highrises over 300 meter or 1000 feet). look at federation tower and russia tower and you will see why nobody should miss this strange skyscraper with lenin.

I disagree, I think skyscrapers will ruin the skyline. Moskva City is bad enough. Luckily the hideous highrise apartments are away from the center.
Let Piter have the skyscrapers. Starting with the Gazprom phallus.

    4. Yuri says:

That looks more like Vegas :)

    5. TeratoMarty says:

Yes, it looms over everything else, and anything in its neighbourhood would spend at least half the day in a cold shadow. Very appropriate.

    6. It was never started? I’m American and I know this is not true. It was started upon the foundation of the Cathedral of Christ the Redeemer.

    7. illlich says:

too bad they didnt build it, Lenin on top or not (they could decorate Lenin with lights for Christmas, maybe put a white beard and red hat on him), every city needs a building that defines it: Eiffel Tower, Big Ben, Transamerica Bldg, Space Needle, CN tower, Sears Tower, Empire state Building (or World Trade Center– I think they just rebuild the Twin Towers exactly as before, piss of Al Quaeda!),

    8. Polina says:

“Palace of Soviets; Construction started in 1937, and was terminated by the German invasion in 1941. In 1941-1942, its steel frame was disassembled for use in fortifications and bridges. Construction never resumed again. If built, it would have become the world’s tallest structure.”

    9. Rob says:

The first picture looks like a running man with the skyscrapper in the right spot..

    10. tomii says:

      I still say this:

The overhead view of Moscow looksl ike a man running (use your imagination)

The giant statue looks like a gint hard penis appearing right in the running man’s crotch.

I guess it proves Lenin was a prick.

    11. Mikhail says:

Here’s some more unrealized projects of Moscow Architecture from the 1930s to the early 1950s. Very interest! I wonder if a few of it were realised… Skyscrapers, eh?

    12. Becca says:

      it looks like a man sprawled on the ground. the first image. and if so, then the statue would be his erect penis. ._.;

    13. reinito says:

lenin the ringloard statue would have probably been torn down. maybe the new superkitsch peter the great statue would have been placed on top of the palace instead of on the waterfront. or the christ redentor church would have been rebuilt to exact replica on top. who knows…

    14. 钦哥 says:

      艹,谁敢说列宁同志坏话,干掉你丫的,等着吧,共产主义一定会实现!!!!
