Do they hunt these kids down, and force them to go to the russian army when they are old enough? Or is this a way to escape infamous russian army.

Yeap, this was spreaded (thanx to gypsies and tadjikes) about 10 years ago. But now it is very-very hard or even impossible to find such a places, thanks to Putin, he completely solved the problem of homeless children.
And eviction of gypsies and tadjikes from Russia will be good idea to completely solve the problem of drugs.

I think these places have always existed and will always exist… now it’s just different children, that’s all!
Where there is a will, there is a way. There is no way, that I know of, to completely rid any area of drug use. Crack down all you want, the users just get craftier. Sure, they may go to another neighborhood or house, but getting them out of the country just isn’t possible. There are still users in Russia, I’m sure, and just like there’s 12 year old coke addicts living in my neighborhood, there’s more than likely some living somewhere in Russia as well.
What I’d like to know is how/why the photographer got in there to take the pictures. They seem a bit too well composed to have been taken by another junkie like those boys.
I live in Petersburg. There are still a lot of young addicts here. When I moved into my apartment it was very common to find used needles on the floor.
A lot of young kids sniff glue.. you can easily tell them because they smell like glue. Very unpleasant to be around.
I seriously doubt getting rid of the gypsies and tajiks will have any effect on the supply of illegal drugs.
Now I am pretty convinced the FAO is not Finnish. The way he/she writes (mentioning gypsies and tadjikes) is a clear indicator.
I can only feel sad for those kids. No matter what their reasons might have been.

And, FYI my dear ‘Finnish Alc’ whatever, we DO have our own problem with junkies in Finland, and I know it was not started by gypsies or any other ethnic group in general for that matter. Drugs are so nice, they have no ethnic preferences, we all can choose to get totally f–ked. Not the path I would choose though.
i’ve seen some more photos from ukraine of similar caracter. unfortunatelly, drugs are pretty cheap these days and it’s not the problem only for russia or ukraine, but to whole world.

Hmmmm. . . heroin is not cheap, unless you are a dealer or live in Afghanistan, so I suspect those photos are not completey true. Addicts sell everything they have and steal from their friends to keep the habit going, so I doubt a bunch of CHILDREN are serious addicts (and the fact that they are shooting up into their legs implies that they are serious addicts and have used up all the veins in their arms), unless they are also independently wealthy.
what about the glue-sniffing addicts that live in the sewers in Novosibirsk? or is that a myth?
Oh, and cut out the “gypsy” hatred Finnish Aloholic– the gypsies/tzigani/roma are always blamed for problems in Russia (and elsewhere) because they are outsiders, and so are easy to blame. Plenty of cities around the world have drug addict problems, with no gypsies around. You might as well blame “evil spirits.”

Why is it that every couple of weeks there are reports on the internet about Russian reporters who have written unflatering articles about Putin, they end up with bullets in their back.

I think crime would go way down and a lot of taxes could be made by governments from taxing them like alcohol and cigarettes. The mafia and the gangs and the terrorists would need to find a new way of making money.
I am against drugs. these pictures are very bad. I am just thinking that the American war on drugs started in 1970 has not worked at all, the problem has gotten much worse.

Those are pitiful pictures. I try to imagine the living hell of their daily lives. I can’t help but notoice the short, neat, army style haircuts on one of them. That is unexpected.
Ive been a lot of places in the world and to be honest these pictures DO NOT suprise me at all
I work in places where its not at all uncommon to find children smoking crack and playing with guns
its a terrible state of affairs
I am another who has seen similar images as shown here. Not just in photographs, but in a some US metro centers. Take Salt Lake City, UT USA.
It is not generally seen as a city with drug addiction and that is true to a large extent. Yet, consider this, I was in that city about 10 years ago, when these pictures shown were taken. I was on a venture to retrieve the son of a client who had been absorbed into a loose framework of drug culture, since I have resources in locating people and the ability to integrate into situations in a non threatening way.
In the course of that venture, I witnessed teens and adults doing the same things as seen in these pictures and believe it or not possibly worse. The drugs were not the huge issue to me so much as the absolute disregard for each other as people. There was a loose camaraderie, yet they’d steal the shirt off another’s back if they wanted it. I even saw evidence of rape.
This still goes on today in various places, but its not wholly visible. Some are open and care less if they are seen doing their use, but that is part of the disease and a sign of a larger problem.
So in summary, it is not a local or past issue - the drugs and associated social side effects - it is worldwide and deeply mired out of general view. The coffee bar clerk at your local Starbucks may just secretly be a heroin addict involved with underground groups of sub humans.
By the way, I live in the US and love my country, but I respect and admire the peoples of many other countries. Not the government tools, but the people. There is a difference. That is a mistake many make and why I believe there is more tension than needed across country lines.
People are people and our daily issues may be more similar than we realize, just a difference in place and cultural subsets.

hi i am from the u.k. and also viewed the pics u talk about childern haveing sex 2 pay for those drugs well i think russia shouls legalise sex with boys from the age of lets say 13 and tax the industry and welcome people from other countrys who wish to have sex with there boys and give them safe heaven while there it would b great money maker for the russians as sex with young boys is r can be so beautyful and loveing come on wourld and open your minds to all the possibilitys

Why the hell is there so much “heroin” in those syringes? It doesn’t even look like the correct color or consistency of heroin. Those syringes probably hold ab out 12cc of liquid… so my estimate is that there is about 6cc of what is being called heroin… I think these pics are BULL SHIT. I’m not saying kids don’t do drugs but the details in these pics do not make sense…
Brown color suggest that this substance is, what we called in Poland, “compote” - very popular drug in the 80s in that area. Aside from heroine it contained many other shit. Read on wikipedia about “Polish heroine”.

I dont understand why people find it so hard to believe that children can not only be addicted to hard drugs, and find them and afford them. Kids if anything have more creative ways to get money then older folks, here in america we have the same problems. There are 10-15yo’s all over the place, smoking meth banging H.
FYI that heroin is unrefined H, basically a really dirty crude extraction, which has basically dissappeared, now that cheap pure heroin is flooded the market such dirty things are all but gone. That said its no surprise young kids are the ones acquiring it as its far cheaper then normal dope and perhaps made by them or someone they know.
