Daily Photos and Some Anouncement

russia

That’s an entrance door mod sent by our reader in one of the offices in Russia.
That’s another portion of “daily” photos from Russian life. Those series seem to be not so daily in terms of regularity just daily in term of everyday life as it is on streets of Russia.

Also we would like to tell you that we have upgraded comments system now we have threaded comments system - you can reply directly to the person you want ‘reply to this comment’ link under the each comment - your new response would appear in a tree manner below the comment you answered to.

    1. The flood in Saint Peterburg took place because of Americans and America.

Americans pollute everything around them including lands, waters, air. They produce greenhouse effect on the Earth. That’s why floods appear in many places on the Earth.

People on the Earth suffer because of Americans.

It is the middle of winter here in America and today I will go driving in my nice sports car with the top down. It is a beautiful warm day. I love global warming! :-)

      • Yurka says:

I would like to see how much you “love” global warming when the ozone layer disappears and you are being burned alive.

        • Rico says:

If the earth is warming its a natural phenomenon and we cant do anything about it anyway. The people saying we are causing global warming are fools and crackpots.

My first response was really just a joke anyway in response to the slam against Americans. We use more energy in America because we have built a better standard of living for ourselves. You would do the same if you could.

          • That’s why you have no right to live on the Earth! Get out!

          • Yurka says:

Global warming is mainly cause by pollution. Over the last 50 years the earth’s temperature saw a drastic increase.

US is ranked #6 in the world on the standard of living, yet it is the #1 carbon dioxide polluter. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CO2_emission

Since you have such a high standard of living, you should be able to devote much more time to taking care of the planet - get to it! :).

            • Lemme re-post from the older thread…

“If you are talking about carbon dioxide (which is not technically a pollutant, and the human emissions of which are small potatoes, greenie hysteria notwithstanding), then, I’ll concede your point: U.S. does produce some 25% of the total global emissions. Reasons? Because it produces 25% of the world product. Duh. Calculating on per-dollar GDP basis, it is right around the global average: not stellar, but still pretty damn good, considering low population desnsities and need for personal transportation and reliance on outdated technology thanks to gov’t stupidity and greenie (watermelon, actually: green on the outside, red on the inside) NIMBYism and BANANAism (coal-fired plants, regrettable lack of development in nuclear power, gov’t ban on reprocessing of reactor fuel). So you can shut up right about now.

Oh, and… worst carbon dioxide emitters per dollar GDP? Russia and China (the latter still runs coal-fired ex-Russian FD locos, for fuck’s sake!), only a handful of countries do worse than that. It’s all here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_ratio_of_GDP_to_carbon_dioxide_emissions
The kicker? They are exempt from Kyoto Protocol requirements. So, even though I do believe that Bush is an idiot (and quite possibly a crook, too), he did two intelligent things: killing Kyoto was one of them.”

And, human CO2 emissions only represent less than 4% of the total, anyways. In other words, a small tweak of natural fluxes would do a whole lot more than a lot of tweaking of human fluxes. Then again… pearls… swine…

            YES! Common sense.

          • pld says:

Actually, global warming is a very real, large-scale and dangerous phenomenon caused by *people* polluting Earth like there’s no tomorrow. Sure, I bet you believe that god created all beings in 7 days and the world is 6000 years old (and dinosaur bones are just the work of the devil to test our faith). But I believe in the scientific method and every respectable scientist agrees that we have fucked up our planet and it’s long high time to do something about it.

To all the hicks yelling “It’s just a natural cycle”, I have just one link, a really simple, nice colorful graph.

            • Sure, the hockey stick documents increase in carbon dioxide…

…except that the rise starts in the early 1800s, and steam power hasn’t become common until some 50 years later. And, remember, in the 1970s it was the global _cooling_ to spell the doom of mankind.

And I am not even mentioning the fact that saying that said graph documents a rise in temperature is a leap of faith of christian dimensions.

Still, I can propose an alternative cause-effect relationship: increasing global temperatures (due to, say, solar cycle) lead to permafrost melting, enhancing OM decomposition and releasing carbon dioxide. Plausible

            • dave says:

hey hey, nice graph, unfortunately it fails to map the vostok and epica ice core data correctly. try this one, or, just take a look at the data without it being put into “pretty picture form”

      • x57 says:

Where do you live, exactly? Can’t be the USA, because we’re in the midst of a deep freeze. I live in Michigan, and the current temp is -1 F, -18 C

    3. Up with the V8!

I’m trying to figure out the plug / LAN wire.

      • Rev.Tig says:

Ah, I think this is a part hoax (the ethernet cable with a mains plug on the end) this device is known as an “etherkiller” much famed in IT operations departments all over the world. The idea is generally to destroy the network and as many devices that are connected to it by pumping mains voltage into it :) I would doubt that there is anywhere actually making these for use.

Lots of places have them, I personally don’t know of anyone that has dared plugged them in. Most of these devices get made when the ops staff are overworked and on the edge. Not that I have made one with a 16Amp commando plug on the end at all :) Last time I looked it was sitting in the cupboard with a label stating it was a “Heavy Duty Power over Ethernet adaptor”. :)

I don’t really like the boxes, they seem a little too cluttered. Is there a way of removing or rejigging the boxes?

I do like the bucket shoes, funnily enough I’ve never actually seen anything like that done before.

I have to say that I do like this site. It’s funny though because years ago I was one of the guys in the American military that kept the nuclear missiles working that were aimed at the old Soviet Union. Plus later I worked in an air force unit in europe that taught Soviet fighter tactics to NATO pilots. I think its a very good thing that those bad old days are gone. :-)

Is the administrator deleting them on purpose?

    8. democrat says:

Another thing, my comments are\were educational and accurate, unlike others. And they got removed after hard work of writing them up. Imagine spending 25 min. thoroughly writing comments with citations, only for them to be deleted by some administrator, possibly for fun.

      v’chom vasiya problema, administratori??
